hey guys
so basically need some help/tips/info on getting my rear brake lights to work again on my 2012 696 abs...=(
i installed new ducabike rearsets. hooked it all up! but now...the brake light wont turn on.......
did i blow a fuse?? how do i check? =(
any other issues/problems u guys might be aware of?? any suggestions would be amazinG! thanks so much in advance!
Oh btw. Hand lever brake lights up and works fine....!
If the brake light works with the front brake lever the fuse is good. What provision does Ducabike give you for the brake light switch? Is it adjusted properly?
Ya I believe so. Might have to go have another look at it then. Maybe the peg isn't inserted into the master cylinder far enuf.... Gah! Noob when it comes to bikes! Oh well guess it's all part of the learning process!
ok so went back to check all the connections and such and still nothing doing...=(
seems to be sufficient pressure in the back brake...just no light coming on.
even when i press/depress the button that activates the light with my hand and/or the screw, nothing happens.
any other suggestions?
actually the brake light switch is a tiny pin connector that is on when released
take it off the rearset. push it in, see if when released you have brake light.
the adjustment may or may not work on those sets? haven't seen them personally.
you may have to switch to a pressure switch. I did even though the S&P have a mount for the switch. I needed a halfheight nut and couldn't find one at the time and decided a 20 dollar switch would be easier to find.
hey raux thanks for the reply
ya basically even when its pressed i know the light should be on, but still nothing
they gave me a bolt with a hex nut i guess as the depressor tab thing that it presses up against
in the instructions it doesnt say anything but to just reconnect the stock electrical!
also, sorry to be a noob, but wut do u mean by a pressure switch? i think thats wut i have? gah so frustrating! haha
ok. you may need to put up some good photos as to what is going on.
the light should be off when pressed. on when released.
Ya I know. Just not sure where to post the pics online first?
Also I've double checked the wire in case it came loose or something but seems fine!

You need to use a site like Photo Bucket and link to that site.

Wut duc u da man! Thanks so much!
Soooo...how did this story end?? I'd love to know because I have the opposite problem. My rear brake light is ALWAYS on and I'm not sure why or where to begin to troubleshoot.
Thanks.
First, make sure the bulb is in correctly. Yep, people do manage to get them in backwards. In correctly? Disconnect the front switch. Light go out now? Bad switch, improperly adjusted switch, or depending on master, the dowel that activates the switch is missing. Same with back (no dowel)
Thanks Howie. I figured out what my particular issue was. I'm missing the bearing that goes inside the housing that activates and deactivates when the brake lever is squeezed and put back.
Quick fix: I put a small rock in there and now it doesn't turn the brake light on at all (what I wanted).
Thanks for your insight.
