Title: S4RS valves?
Post by: DesmoBlob on June 26, 2008, 02:11:51 PM
Does anyone know if the Monster S4RS Testastretta uses the newer tapered valve retainers? Or are they the ubiquitous half-ring  style?

I've tentatively agreed to do the valve adjustment on a friend's S4RS Testastretta. I have experience doing the regular half-ring style. But if the S4RS has the tapered style... ugh...! Not diggin the idea of pulling the heads.

They are not tapered collets as far as I know.

That said if ducati ran out of half rings that day...........

Deja vu all over again, eh?   [laugh]
And more on the way, I'm sure.  [laugh]

Opener and closer shims are the same as desmoquattros.
Per the parts catalogues, and in my experience.

the only models to run the tapered collets were the 749S '04 onwards, 749R and possibly 999R '05.  all later stuff runs the same old collets.
