Title: Help identifying ST2 hose
Post by: d3vi@nt on July 06, 2012, 10:41:01 AM
I have a new-to-me '99 ST2 that I've been checking over. The water tank has a hose clamp on the lower front (part # 741.4.055.1A) and there is no hose there. I'm trying to determine what should be there and how it should be routed. The part is described generically as a "hose guide".  The coolant-related hoses are all rear-facing and are routed that direction, so I can't figure what would be routed toward the lower front of the water tank.  This part seems to be present on most of the ST's, but none of the part diagrams show an accompanying hose.

Any info would be appreciated.

Photo would be helpful.  Could it be an overflow hose?

With the fairings on the bikes, I can't see or feel the front of the overflow tank. I had that fairing off my bike two weekends ago to change out the battery. I'll see if I have any pictures of that side with the fairing off.

Edit - the one picture I found does not have a hose coming down from that side of the bike. I may work on the wife's ST2 this weekend, if I do, I'll try to remember to look.

I have a spare '99 ST4 overflow tank floating around, but instead of digging that out to look at it, I dug up the '00 ST2 parts manual and......looks like the tank only has one hose, as I was starting to think. It is the one tht connects to the radiator...

Thanks, Desmo. Much appreciated.

That's the odd thing -as you noted, there's only the one small hose connecting the tank to the radiator. What the heck this hose clamp is for, I sure don't know...

Sorry Howie. I don't have a spot to post pics and I've put the fairings back on already.  It's part # 22 in the diag that Desmo posted. Note that there's no hose shown in the diag.

I may pull the fairing off of my bike and see what that is used for. I bought that bike brand new and know everything that has been done to it.

Had to pull off the plastics for another issue so I stared at it for a bit. Seems the only thing in that neck of the woods is the regulator wires, but mine aren't long enough to route that way.   ???
