Title: Arkansas Extravaganza this Fall - Plan it and they will come...
Post by: Cher on July 06, 2012, 12:06:03 PM
OK, it's time to cut bait or fish - consider this the first official organizational meeting to discuss a DFW Ducati Arkansas four day extravaganza.

What I need to know first is what four day blocks of time look promising for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday get away.  I think three nights, four days should just about keep everyone entertained and not put too much pressure trying to cram things in.

I would think we'll have better luck rain and temperature wise if we target the months of October or November.

Possible itineraries include Hot Springs, Eureka Springs, and Mount Magazine.  I've been to all three - as I know a number of you also have - so I think we've got a good handle on decent places to stay and enjoy the local night life.

Here are some specific links to some interesting places:

In Hot Springs:
Traditional Hotel, http://arlingtonhotel.com/   Hot spring spa treatments in the basement, all day... to die for.  Really   8)   If we have six people, a price per head in one of their basic two-per room suites,  quotes will be: $87.50 double occupancy per night.

Twenty miles south of Eureka Springs:
Private Home Way-Away Rental:  http://www.flipkey.com/eureka-springs-vacation-rentals/p404496/?utm_source=vast&utm_medium=csynd&utm_campaign=vastnet.  Two night minimum works out to be $100.00/per head for the two night minimum.

Mount Magazine National Park, new with lots of very modern amenities and a great restaurant/lodge:
http://www.mountmagazinestatepark.com/lodge-cabins-restaurant/cabins.aspx.   This is an awesome place with a very nice fully furnished cabin and kitchenette.  Hot tub on the back porch overlooking the  mountains.  Gorgeous and secluded.  $65.83/per night/per head.  Cabin sleeps six.

If we can a good solid number of interested peeps, I will take care of all reservations, maps and etc. related to this trip.  So just let me know when you're available and we can get this show on the road!

Man I miss those trips up to Arkansas.  Sounds like you have a good plan on the trip.  I might be able to dig out some old maps if that would help ya'll with routes and planning.

Hope everyone is doing well.

In but how about Eureka? And we CANNOT miss AR 123 (the southern dragon).
I have all the maps needed.  Lets get a meet to discuss.

The only reason to try and do the trip during the week is to avoid the bulk of the tourist weekend traffic.

If it works out better for everyone to shoot for a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and/or Monday then that;s what we can do so we can get more peeps involved.

Also, itenery is totally open to discussion but I think the main thing is to get this trip underway with specific plans.

I'm looking forward to this trip and I hope we can get some interest soon

Hey Scott.  I am doing great.  Still doing the same old stuff but without bikes at the moment.  I got married a little over two years ago to Amy which a lot of the old timers had met at the house and dinners.  No kids yet.

I hope you are doing well.  Still in Tres Padres?

I would love to make the trip but I sold all the bikes.  I am going to try to get a track bike in the next year or two so I can get back into riding.

Let me know next time you are in town.  If there is a dinner or breakfast gathering, I will make it.

Good hearing from you.

Hey, man!  Great to hear from you Swanny!  Can't talk about Arkansas without thinking of your rocking roll, wild-ass 1200 mile Arkansas days!  Now those were the days  [beer]

We're going to do this for sure and I've got a fiendish plan that will take place in October ... which will give you plenty of time to find a decent bike  [laugh]

Come on - you know you want  [evil]

Watch this space.  More news tonight.
