Title: Handlebars 796
Post by: dazzpowder on July 08, 2012, 08:11:28 AM
Hia all looking to get some gold coloured bars and would like them to either be a direct swap or if they come closer to the rider even better if that as the case what cables lengths would be required? Anyone recommend some tapered bars for a 796

Thanks

This http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MA005/Bars-Mirrors/MA005.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MA005/Bars-Mirrors/MA005.html) and read the comments carefully. Requires no mod to lines and cables. Have your dealer drill the holes for the locating pins with you on the bike. Has a nicer sweep / wrist angle than stock. Silver looks stock though, only nicer.  8)

Thanks those are the exact ones I was after, the touring bars sound great only I'm not sure the extra height will accommodate the existing cables, the comments are from guys that have the older monster.  I'll give them a call and find out.

 ???

You have a 796, I have a 796, the first person to comment has a 796. All the cables and lines are long enough. To get much more rise would require some re-routing though, according to my dealer who installed the pair in the snap above on my bike prior to delivery. Have your dealer drill the holes for the controls with you sitting on the bike as I did. Read comment # 1 on the link. http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MA005/Bars-Mirrors/MA005.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/MA005/Bars-Mirrors/MA005.html)

Thanks I missed that first time round.   Did you go for the OEM sport like ones or touring ones?

The one in the picture is ~ 1/2" rise and 2" sweep. Maybe that's now called "touring". I could use ~ 1/2" more. It's hardly "touring" IMO. That would more like ~ 3" more rise over stock.
