Does anyone put grease or high temp silicone gasket goo in the connection between the last pipe and the mufflers?
Also while I'm asking my lower muffler tends to be a little closer to the bike than the top one. Has anyone else seen this and have any tips on adjustment?
The FIRST install of my arrow system I reused the gaskets and no sealant. Backfired and popped like crazy.
So the SECOND time i pulled it apart (why is there always a second time for me) I still reused gaskets but slathered everything with RTV Copper sealant (at the suggestion of the DMF). No popping, no backfire, 3,000 miles and no issues..
Good luck.
Did you seal all the connections?
OK, I need some help with exhaust leaks.
My plain is to take everything off. Get new header gaskets and bolts. When I install the new gaskets I'm going to use some of the high temp RTV.
I was also planning on RTV in the clamp connection and the slip in connection in the back.
Does anyone have any advice on how much to use or prep before re installing? I have also seen people recommend copper grease for some of the connections.
Any feedback will help. My worst leak is at the lower clamp connection at the end of the header pipe. But I might be leaking a little at the cylinder.
Thanks!
