This place is dead now-a-days. :P
No offense to Docwong...
I know! [laugh] We all sorta just moved on. Enzo and I still hang out with the old gang, but work and family obligations seem to be eating into everyone's time. It's even hard to get them together to RIDE. I would love it if some fresh blood came in here and started to liven the place up, maybe even organize a group ride. [Dolph]
What's going on in here, my email alerted me that there was activity on the Doc Wong forums.

Its your fault this place is dead. Look at at you, your just pathetic. You have been on this board since May 2008 and only bothered to post 878 times? Whats up with that?!
Doc Wong Has almost as many posts as that, and he only posts important stuff.
You need to explain your self....
;D JK
Yeah, JohnC needs to get up in here and post war with DocWong.
Miss you guys....

Welcome to the board! How long have you been riding?
About 5 months now. I got a Ninja 250 like everyone told me, but after about 700 miles, it feels like I've reached the limits of what I can do with the bike. Yeah, yeah, I know that it doesn't seem like a lot of miles, but I'm a pretty athletic person and pick things up quickly.
So I'm looking for a second bike -- Streetfighter or older S4Rs or something. My friends keep trying to talk me into the R1, but I'm pretty sure there's more pussy in it for me if I go Italian. Anyone know of any bikes for sale locally?
Also, does anyone have recommendations for some riding gloves? I got a sweet replica lid and jacket, but the wind goes right up my jacket sleeves if I wear my wool gloves.
BTW, are you a girl?

We are planning a group ride. Why don't you lead Off for us. We are doing a fast pace this time so you better ride fast.
Oh yea, I'm a girl. I can meet you for Drinks later tonight at "The Stud" It's on 9th & Harrison. See you there Stud.

No girls on the intrawebz.
If you go to Sears they're having a sale on those Mechanix gloves and they're only like $17. They come in a buncha colors and they fit into the back of your jeans.
I'm a really hot chick, but I'm 14 is that a problem?

This group is too funny. I miss the sarcasm. I've met some of you and enjoy your company, but i've become busy becoming a single parent. I'm always interested in a group ride but it's hit and miss for me. BTW, I've been on as many Doc Wong rides as I've been on DMF rides. There's also that SF Ducati riders group on Facebook that may be getting some of the attention.
Ride safe [Dolph]. Ciao!

No body cares if you don't own a Monster, Unless you plan on spending most of your time in tech, and you own a Yamaha, and keep asking questions about it. Otherwise Post up some pics of your Sport Classic. I think there's even a thread about cool Italian Bikes currently running. I admit, I rarely visit here. I'm also on ducati.ms and barf, but rarely go there, too. Facebook is to blame. Many of the members here are on fb and I can get all the rides info there. Plus, I can never make any of the zeitgeist meets anymore. But I can actually make it to Emeryville today, so I hope to catch up/meet new riders there.
It's interesting about facebook. I finally broke down and got an account so that I could have a Page for my Business. What I find though is that I really don't like FB at all. I feel that its messy and disorganized and I have to be notified of every stupid thing somebody else does on their page. Usually I couldn't care less what they are posting up. (Although Cosmo Posted this cool photo I kind of like, I guess it doesn't show here)
But it does seem to be popular with millions of users, I just don't understand why.
I'm with you on FB, Dave. The static-to-noise ratio is just too high. For the small bits of information that I find useful, there's too much crap to wade through. Of course the same could be said of the forums, but at least I get to choose the level of crap I have to deal with. Some days I'm only up for ankle-depth, other times I'm in over my head.

Hi. I don't know all of you, but have met a few at the the La Ducati Day events in October. I'm mostly a lurker here, but I just wanted to say my Monster is great! I'm now at 17.5k miles and 5 years and she just developed her first issue, which is really very minor - a leaky oil pressure switch and this is easily fixed.
Doc Wong is also great and props go out to him for giving new riders a place to learn and ride in well organized group rides. I know I learned lots of skills from him which have made me a better and safer rider.
I'm on the SF Ducati group(FB) and usually keep up to date with what's going on there. We even had our first DOC / SF Ducati joint meetup this past Monday.
It would be nice to keep this forum and the montly Zeitgeist meetups alive and kicking. So, just keep those threads coming and I'll do my part to participate!
I figured that I might as well check in while everybody else is doing it. I both sold all of my Ducatis and moved away, but I still miss you guys sometimes. I think I stopped going on group rides when the days-since-last-crash count never seemed to get very high before being reset again.
Other than riding to work everyday and doing errands on a motorcycle, I haven't ridden much at all lately. I've got to change that. I still intend to own another Ducati someday - probably a Multistrada 1200ST. There's a good dealer in Roseville.
I'm still putting around on my S2R as always 37k and counting. I check in to see if anything's going on now an then but I'd be up for more group rides. I've never been the type to slab it to a local joint to get some food. Unless the destination has a significant amount of twisties along the way.
As with a lot of you guys, I've got a wife and kid now to worry about. so the bike only gets out on the weekends. But in the summer, its EVERY weekend.
I've tried to avoid Doc wongs rides of late. Someone else always seems to bin in at every doc wong ride I attend.

I dont think i've been on a group ride in a year and a half. I'm always worried about being the collateral damage in an incident more than anything else.
Would still be interested in a group ride though (if you guys ever decide to have one). I'm a South Bay local so Santa Cruz mountains are always nearby but I've been really digging Mines Rd and Del Peurto Canyon Rd between Livermore and Patterson of late.

The 888 was a truly beautiful bike, but I didn't really enjoy riding it because I was afraid of scratching it. There aren't any replacement parts available for one of those if you scrape it up. I wasn't willing to ride it on a race track and it always "wanted" to go way faster than I was willing to ride on the street. So after six years and just 2000 miles, I sold it to a guy who could really appreciate it and it now is living in the same garage as a Ferrari and a Moto Guzzi V11.
And with the money from that sale I bought my KTM, which I'm not afraid to get dirty or scratch, I just ride it
wherever I feel like going.
I still miss the Ducati sound, though. A KTM will never sound as good as a Ducati engine.
Who's up for a group ride this weekend?

I ride the 851 like a pansy for that reason. Well, that's my excuse, anyhow.
To be frank, I just quit.
It was fun when I joined. Really.
But quickly, I felt like being an outsider of the "founders" gang.
No offense to anybody, I just think you guys (well some of you, no names ;D ) have a strong connection and some history and it was just awkward for me stepping in your "almost private" chats.

I crashed once. I went on at least half a dozen Monster rides where others crashed and I was happy to help out. This was both before and after my crash. I think there were just two after.
I felt that the record wasn't too good and opted out. Plus I'm not even in the Bay Area now, so it isn't even a reasonable option to join other Monster rides now. Do you guys even still hold them?
For a while there I was averaging one Monster ride a month and was the ride leader on a lot of them. What have you done to help the cause?

Hey, that's a great idea.
I mean, what could go wrong?
Since this appears to be the general purpose thread for the MOB not sure if many of you watch but Kurt (Crowbar) has a recurring part on Sons of Anarchy this season.... he's also a bad guy... or is he?
That's cool for Kurt, but I can't watch sons of Anarchy anymore.
That scene a couple of seasons ago where they burned the guys tattoo off his back with the torch was a little too raw for me.
I don't watch much TV at all anymore, but I tried to get through one episode of that show. Kurt said about two lines--which made him one of my favorite characters. The ones that talk more are less pleasant to watch.
Anything new going on around here?
Yeah, but we're all too busy to post about it. [laugh]

There's no chairs in the kitchen. Try not to step on her bare feet-she whines about that.
If she keeps her feet busy by bringing food and beer into the living room it shouldn't be a problem. [laugh]
She's gonna not like me for that. Hope she knows I'm kidding.
[laugh] and thanks! :)
Congrats!

It's what's going on in your neighborhood sort of ;D
They look like young, cool people, which I go to great lengths to avoid. [coffee]

I hear they are starting to become regulars at the "Tiki" bar in your neighborhood. You're probably going to have to start going during the day, or find a more nerdy place to hang out. [cheeky]
At least that's the word on the street.
Joy feels sick, she ate too much. It might have been the ice cream with cheese cake, or maybe it was the crab we ate, or it could have been those tacos we had a bit earlier. Me im a barfer. Once you get that stuff out everything is much better. The best place to Barf is outside in the woods, and the second best place to barf is in the kitchen sink on the garbage disposal side.
When I was 15 I went to a party, drank too much and got sick. While every body was out side on the deck, I went into the kitchen and barfed in the sink. It all washed down real nice, and nobody knew anything about it except me.
Years later I dated the girl of the guy who was renting the house I barfed at. The guy owned a cookie shop in Mendocino. When I was in high school back in the 80's we used to go get cookies there fairly often. It later morphed into a coffee shop called moodys. I would go in there to get coffee sometimes when I was back in town.
The last time I went there, I presented my card with all the stamps on it that had been in my wallet for over a year, and initially it was refused. The stamps were from the old owner. The new owner bought it a year ago. Turns out John was killed in a car accident. I found out about two weeks ago.
About a week ago I ran into the girl I used to date on Facebook, who used to date John. I dont know if she knows about what happened to John.
I just thought of all this because I was going to tell Joy to use the sink if she has to throw up.....
So thats what I'm thinking about at 11:40 at night.
That and I let the deer out of the yard. I think its doing fine.
Sorry to hear about the friend, Dave. This time of year brings both good and bad memories. Hopefully Joy managed to hurl into the sink. Mopping up your significant other's technicolor yawn gone wrong can certainly test even the best relationship.
I moved my Monster. To a new garage.

Crossing my fingers that I'll be a Concord resident within the next month.
What kinda track bike is that?
Looks like a 675
You still have the little Monster? Cool! [Dolph]
Yeah the track bike is a 675, lots of fun goodies on it but just been sitting idle for a while, going on 4 years. Keep thinking I need to sell it so someone else can ride the piss out of it.
Once I get this whole house buying thing wrapped up I intend to get the Monsters blinker/tail light issue resolved and get it back on the street.
You still got that Berg too? ever get it running?
I miss some of you make the beast with two backsfaces.
Joe still around? DQ-come visit sometime!
You up crying in your beer or watching F1?
I get to try out the all electronic tolling at the GGB Tuesday after next. Unfortunaly my purpose involves getting on a plane at OAK.

Yeah I've got everything still, now that I've moved permanently I can hopefully make my way through my chores to get the bikes worked on, but for now they just sit.
So I have exact fit coils and new belts coming. :)
What's an exact fit coil?
