Title: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: sebastienb on July 13, 2012, 03:10:47 PM Wanted to change my mirrors but paying 150 for a pair of crgs doesn't seem like a good idea yet (maybe in few months). Anyone tried these knockoffs ? if yes how are they and do you need some extra part to mount them to a stock 2011 796 ? kinda low on cash these days...

Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: jaxduc on July 14, 2012, 05:09:43 AM i've used the cheap ones. I keep snapping mine off when I bring the bike inside.
if you have cash they suck. if you don't have cash they are awesome. [thumbsup] Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: roggie on July 15, 2012, 01:07:02 AM Had a similar set on my 696. They did the job ok but you could tell the build quality was sub par. The Allen screws rusted too with any contact to moisture.
I'd consider them again for an interim solution. But in the long term I'd pony up for the real thing. Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: pitbull on July 15, 2012, 05:06:40 AM I have crg lanesplitters on one of my monsters and cheapie knock-offs on the other. there is no question the crg's are of much better quality and I have snapped one of the cheapies off when overtightening the clamp.
the cheapies look fine and if you understand you're getting what you pay for, they are a fine option. Just know you're not getting crg quality for a much lower price. Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: corey on July 15, 2012, 12:20:11 PM i paid $20 for a set of non-folding CRG knockoffs. i know i'm not supporting the national economy, but at the same time... they work great, are "good enough" for what they are, and have been serving me well for 5 years.
Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: Danilo on July 16, 2012, 02:01:56 PM i bought the same pair and to be quite honest, they are good...but the mechanism is not the same as the crg ones, and the folding mechanism is not the greatest...meaning that either you have to tight them to the point that they dont fold, or you'll have to suffer from them not working properly when you speed up on the freeway since they end up folding in.

Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: Two dogs on December 27, 2012, 01:57:26 PM I installed those exact mirrors , needed a little tweeking to get the tension correct so they didn't fold back under speed.
I found them very clear , stable with no blurring from vibration , I swapped out the domed nut to get a better range of movement to a nylock. [thumbsup] Title: Re: $29.90 Hindsight Folding Bar End Mirrors - Worth trying ? Post by: sebastienb on January 12, 2013, 05:18:18 PM Just got replacements :-/ my left side mirror was not well attached to the bracket so it would make some noise while riding.
