Title: 50,000+ bikes @ Friday 13 Post by: cyberswine on July 14, 2012, 05:24:25 AM Stopped by Port Dover Ontario Friday 13. Took the pictures below just before 7.00am, it was busy. Estimates right now are over 50M bikes showed up during the day. I left very early due to excessive heat and humidity arriving and my wearing full gear (one of the very few do do so). Seeing the literally thousands and thousands of bikes heading into the town (population 6500) while I was leaving was incredible!

I took the pic of the Laverda in the Misc. Cool Italian Bikes thread when I was there. Title: Re: 50,000+ bikes @ Friday 13 Post by: pitbull on July 15, 2012, 05:50:09 AM I have a cottage off the beach there, but have passed on the last couple friday the 13th's as I don't enjoy the crowds. I like looking at all the bikes, but it's to the point you can hardly see them for the mass of people walking around. My brother rides down from Ottawa (6hrs away) for the weekend with a couple buddies, but they are more of the harley-pirate-crowd and it's totally their thing. I go down Thursday night for awhile and then back again on Saturday, but I just can't do the friday anymore.
My mother lives in the condo apartments across from the tim horton's. She quite enjoys the event and has the best view in town. The incoming traffic gets funneled right under her balcony and she sits and watches the bikes all day long, lol. |
