Title: Factory fork height setting for M900S?
Post by: Staggerlee on July 17, 2012, 11:32:51 PM
Can anybody confirm what the fork height should be for an '00 M900S?  My factory service manual calls out 296mm from the bottom of the lower triple to the fork cap; right now the closest I can get is 282 before my clipons (mounted under the top triple) foul up where the fork tube tapers outward.  As it sits, I'm pretty sure the fork adjusters would be knocking against the handlebar if it were still mounted, let alone raising them up another 16mm.

I've got almost two feet and 30 pounds on the dude that I bought the bike from and he told me when I bought it that he'd had the suspension set to his requirements; I'd like to get it all back to the default settings before setting it up to suit me.

Thanks; I appreciate any help.

i think i've come across this myself with your result.  just make it work.  rising the front made the 888 monsters a bit more stable anyway.

Awesome; thanks Brad!  I find a certain amount in solace when I read that you've encountered similar situations; it's nice reassurance that I've not make the beast with two backsed it all up.

I've got a '98 M750 with '00 M900 forks on it, my daily rider.

Forks are 275mm from the bottom of the lower triple to the flange next to the big hex on the cap.
Heim joints on the rear hoop maybe one turn out from all the way in.

I've got about 280mm on mine, I'm not sure it's 100% stock height but that's as far as the forks will go without hitting the bar.  296mm ain't happenin'
