Title: Aftermarket rear brake pedal for a 696 Post by: jrswanson1 on July 20, 2012, 03:17:09 AM I managed to bend my rear brake pedal on my 2012 Monster 696. I'm looking for a replacement that looks better than stock without having to go with a completely new rear set. I've done some looking but I can't find one for my particular motorcycle. Is there one available somewhere? If there's a matching gear shifter, that would be nice, too. Thanks.

The are reverse shift levers for the previous generation that *might* fit... but that's only a might and then you'd have to get used to Up is down shifting.
In checking one of the likely sources I did spot this though http://www.slingshotracing.net/catalog/ducati-848-hm-monster-mts-1200-sf-carbon-fiber-wet-clutch-cover-p-295.html (http://www.slingshotracing.net/catalog/ducati-848-hm-monster-mts-1200-sf-carbon-fiber-wet-clutch-cover-p-295.html) - You were in the hunt for a cover - right? I'm planning on snagging a billet cover with the bump on it for more protection, but that's later. Taking the $700 hit to fix the broken mechanicals is why I'm looking at the brake pedal first. When I go in for my 600 mile service, I should have the money then for a new clutch cover, so I'll have it installed then. But right now, the rear brake pedal is tucked under the bike. I can get to it, but I'd rather have something a bit beefier. One does see them for the racier bikes.. but I've never noticed any for Monsters of any flavor unless they were parts of a full rearset package. 'Course I don't know it all so someone might have a lead for you.
Why are you having that cover installed? Save the cash and DIY! It's only a couple bolts that need to be removed and replaced. That cover just goes over the case as an ablative layer- it doesn't require breaking any oil seals or such hassles. And if you're not comfortable with DIY projects like this yet - just fly a flag in CAM and someone will help. I'd volunteer, but I'm headed out of town for a week+ this evening. The wife is already PO'd about my dropping the bike. If it's not that big a deal, I'll do it myself. I'm guessing I'm stuck with fixing the original brake pedal until someone makes a spiffy aftermarket one.
Title: Re: Aftermarket rear brake pedal for a 696 Post by: Slide Panda on July 20, 2012, 07:51:57 AM For your bike those covers just go over the case. They mimic the look of the dry clutch case where there's two sections. But for the wet clutch it's just an overlay part even that carbon one. When it arrives it should be pretty clear how things go even without instructions.
For the pedal, put some heat to it before you attempt to straighten it out. But don't be shock if it cracks or breaks. The stockers are cast parts and don't take kindly to multiple bends. I just went the new rear set option =)
Title: Re: Aftermarket rear brake pedal for a 696 Post by: jrswanson1 on July 21, 2012, 04:52:11 AM I hit the dealer yesterday to pick up some more riding equipment, my sales guy gave me part of the right foot peg that was still on the ground after the mishap. It had snapped clean off. I hate MIM parts, which is what the pegs and gear shift/brake pedals are made of. I haven't had a problem with them in my Kimber 1911, but I only spent $950 on it, not $9500! That's why I'm looking at other options.

seems like it would be an easy part to fabricate, and they could sell a ton of them as replacements Title: Re: Aftermarket rear brake pedal for a 696 Post by: Oldfisti on July 25, 2012, 06:47:37 PM Paging ML......
