Title: How did you guys fit your seat with integrated taillight?
Post by: xsephirot on July 20, 2012, 04:48:45 PM
So I finally cut my tail and decided to go with the motodynamics tail light. However, when I'm getting the seat back on all the wires are pushing up against the bottom of the seat. Even carefully organizing the wires doesn't help. I can push hard down on the seat to get it locked but I'm worried that the resistors will get too hot from not enough air. Was wondering if anyone found a way aorund this?

Based on changing the tail light and cutting the tail, you should have not impacted the wires.
Are you sure it is not the 2 'fangs' underneath the seat causing confusion about how the seat hits?

Post a pic.

There are no 2 fangs underneath the seat. The more wires is from the resistor lines.

Just move the resistor and wires further toward the tank....that's how to did mine and it works with no noticeable problem.

hopefully you have resolved this issue by now...

but with mine I just made a couple loops with the wires in that space under the seat and secured them to the subframe. at first i DID have trouble getting the seat to lock, but it was because of the position of that resistor. it has to be laying flat... it is rectangular and if the tall part is vertical rather than horizontal, your seat wont latch.

It helped to just pull the wires thru from the top of the seat and leave just enuf of the resistors for some slack. I had trouble as well but disconnected them all and did my best to keep the wires and split the wires evenly distributed to both sides of the seat.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up also wrapping the wires in a circular fashion and pushed down hard to get it to lock. I didn't want the resistors close to the regulator since they both get hot. But now that isn't a problem anymore as my regulator burned out and will be finding a new place to mount it. Also found that it helps to take off the bottom of the seat cover for the little tool set.
