Title: 00' M750 picup coils - alternate source?
Post by: motoxmann on July 21, 2012, 10:18:55 PM
so it's official, I need a new pickup coil for my 2000 M750, 1 of mine is cracked and even though it tests within spec it is still causing major fluctuations in ignition signal.
I have a thread in the wanted parts section, but does anyone know where else I can get them from new or used? the only place I can find new ones are from ducati dealers for $250 for the entire assembly, and I am not going to pay that if there is any way possible to get it cheaper.
I found a thread on a different site for a company in UK called ElectrexWorld that sells the sensors individually, but they spec out at 450 ohms, whereas ours are actually supposed to spec at 95-105 ohms, so I dont even want to attempt to buy theirs

the p8 that electrexworld sell works just fine.

there's a solder joint in the wires about 15mm back from the original sensor.  you generally switch the wires for the p8 sensor too, so pay attention to the wiring diagram that comes with it in terms of which colour matches what.

ok, I may end up giving them a shot if all else fails.
I did however find another person from a few years ago that bought the electrexworld sensor and said they received TWO dead units before receiving a third one that worked. and considering they are shipping from the UK, and I am in the US, thats just another fear I have of having to deal with as far as the delay in shipping if the unit does not work. and I dont feel like having to disassemble and reassemble multiple times over faulty units either

if anyone has a working used or new unit that is genuine ducati that they'd be willing to sell me, please PM me

You could test them before installing.  Heat and vibration duplicates what they go through in the engine.

Try these guys, they don't show up on the web site but they may still have them.
