Title: low handlebar setup on a new monster Post by: Barney on July 27, 2012, 10:17:19 AM in doing a little searching around, it looks to me like most go with clip ons to get a lower bar setup...I actually like the bar on my 1100 evo and I dont want to be laying on the tank, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a lower riser for the top triple - i've seen risers that are higher than stock, but nothing lower as far as I know...seems to me you might be able to get ~3/4-1in lower bar height out of different clamps...
i guess clipons are an option but i really do like that wide bar, and they'd be less fun to install... I didn't use the circular disks that go under them though but it gives a slighter lower bar height than the stock riser. Here's a pic. (http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6133/5968074533_1a20142c95.jpg)

good looking ride by the way Title: Re: low handlebar setup on a new monster Post by: Mhanis on July 27, 2012, 05:21:36 PM Shift, this is memory so I refuse to accept responsibility for accuracy.
I believe the Evo comes with a higher riser than the earlier M1100/1100S. If that is right you might be able to replace yours with an oem part from a non-evo bike. Just a thought. Title: Re: low handlebar setup on a new monster Post by: jongunz on August 06, 2012, 11:25:41 AM The rizoma rises I used were the 42mm. They're supposed to replace the 696 riser which is lower than the 796. The little disc that I opted not to use was more or less a finishing piece and I thought it was supposed to close the gap because there is a little metal nipple that sticks up from the triple but when I installed with the disc it actually had a gap underneath it. I tried drilling it out to fit around the nipple but no luck. I didn't have a drill press so I essentially jacked them up trying to make the holes bigger.

[thumbsup] The earlier 696/1100/1100S had lower bars than current models but this set up looks a tad lower (based on what I can see from the pics). |
