Title: Whiney 695 Post by: myfirstduc on June 27, 2008, 08:02:22 AM Lately i have noticed my 08 695 makes a high pitched whine. This happens the majority of the time regardless of, brakes applied, throttle on, rolling, stopped, etc..
I can make no rhyme or reason for it. [bang] Also, it is stock. Anyone else have any idea? Thanks Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: Speeddog on June 27, 2008, 12:21:06 PM Lately i have noticed my 08 695 makes a high pitched whine. Thanks Is it the same sound as you hear immediately after turning the key on? If so, that's the fuel pump. Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: acalles on June 27, 2008, 12:34:07 PM Mine has started to do this also in the 50-60mph range, goes away at higher speeds and starts up slowly around 25..
I'm gonna check chain tension.. its the only thing I can think of :-\ other then it might be normal, but I'm new to the bike so I don't know. I've cleaned and lubed the chain, all seems fine. Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: SKOM on June 27, 2008, 12:53:02 PM I can hear my fuel pump on my S2R. I think it's normal. Getting louder pipes might help [evil]

I only hear the pump when I turn the ignition switch on... or, y'know... +1 on the pipes mod ;D Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: Speeddog on June 27, 2008, 01:38:33 PM Possibly the belts or tensioner/idler rollers.
But it really is dependent on exactly when it's happening, and that's not clear from the OP. Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: OT on June 27, 2008, 05:11:32 PM My '04 M1000 has always done it, too; frequency changes with engine speed.....I really don't "notice it" much after 11k+ miles.

But it really is dependent on exactly when it's happening, and that's not clear from the OP. Belts that are too tight will make a whining noise. If it's the belts the whine should follow the engine speed. Title: Re: Whiney 695 Post by: myfirstduc on July 01, 2008, 07:01:41 AM Thanks for all the help, sorry i have been out of town and just now see all the replies.
So far i am going with it is normal, and will have it looked at when i hit 7500 miles. I totally agree on the louder pipes [thumbsup], they are on the list, but not in the budget yet [bang] Thanks again. |
