Title: 800s i.e. FINALLY done.
Post by: dolphaxel on July 28, 2012, 08:13:24 PM
So this bike really isn't all that crazy, but I took the whole thing apart and put it back together all myself and am super excited about how it turned out. I look at all these guys that do crazy builds and wonder how they have the time or any money left for that matter. This bike was in perfect running shape when I started but had not been cleaned or anything since it was new I'm pretty sure. Fortunately it's all back together and ready for its second life. Not the coolest bike ever made, but I'm proud of it and can't wait to get some miles added up.

Here is a list, but I'm sure there is more.

-powdered frame
-painted body panels
-new tires
-tapered head bearings
-new spark high mount exhaust
-ceramic coated manifolds
-powder coated head light bezel
-powder coated sets
-powder coated levers
-powder coated lower tree
-cycle cat clip ons with custom dark hard ano
-crg mirror custom powder coated
-duc performance carbon side fairings
-custom upholstered seat with matching re stitching
-powder coated swing arm
-dynojet pc 3

i think you need to paint the wheels, either tank colour or black.  maybe red.

I thought about that as I was putting it back together. I really want some 5 spoke marchesini's, but damn they're pricey. For now I think its just going to be ridden the way it is. Wife may have a freakout if she sees more money go into this thing before i've ridden it for a while.

So it was an epic summer again. Lots of moto riding, bike riding, and camping. I took just a couple of pics along the way just for fun.

I also had the bike dyno tuned this summer. It came out almost 10hp more than I went in with. it got new belts and valves adjusted. Other than that just the normal tinkering.

Awesome looking bike man! I'd go for a red clutch pressure plate with an open black clutch cover. Really think that would add to the look

Thanks. I would like to do some clutch stuff, but the wet clutch makes it tricky. I've seen some dry clutch conversions, but it's a good chunk of change to do the whole swap. As far as driving goes I've heard the wet clutch is a bit smoother and longer lasting. I think I would rather put some bucks into wheels and levers or something.

If he doesn't want any oil inside the motor.  :D
