Title: Need a recomendation on a throttle tube replacement Post by: drkhorse on August 03, 2012, 04:14:59 PM Hey everyone I just replaced the stock grips on my 2009 ducati monster 696 with some comfy gel ones. But the new grips don't cover that plastic lip on the throttle tube near the controls (see photo). It doesn't effect the performance of the grips but its looks pretty bad. So I figure I need to replace the stock throttle tube now.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what throttle tube I should get? Which are compatible with my 696? Are their different tube types that effect the performance of acceleration for better or worse? Thanks! Looks to be a quality product, and has some throttle control benefits from what I understand. Has these fancy delrin bushings/bearings at each end of the tube that supposedly give it an ultra-smooth feel Check it: http://www.g2ergo.com/ (http://www.g2ergo.com/) Seems like there are some interchangeable cams to choose from, and they also have a nice selection of "domino" brand grips on the G2 site that no doubt work perfectly with their throttle tubes. I keep meaning to buy one of these, but every time I go to purchase, something else comes up for the bike (like a $550 repair bill for a locked gear shifter)... It's also made in the USA, which is always a plus for me. I picked up the tamer but haven't put it on yet. but yeah, pisses me off that no one makes a direct fit replacement for the stock grip. I have not used it on my M1100, but do use the Driven grips. I dont even notice this issue anymore though and no one has ever said anything about it to me so I dont worry about it.

Had the gel grips on for about 2 rides and felt more vibration with them so I switched back to oem, maybe the harder rubber absorbs more vibration? Anyhow, obviously no fitment issues with the oem grips.
Edit: Pro Grip 719. They have an indent that the lip fits in to so not as exposed as the pic above. The oem grip fits over the lip.
