I'd be curious to see that as a real race between that bike and that car.

There's two Streetfighters competing this year.
I think the entire course is paved now.
Look out records

Damn!!  If I owned a Ducati dealership and was able to pull bikes off the floor and enter them in the Pikes Peak Race AND take first place AND set a new record for that race. I'd say that would constitute a dream come true for me too. Although honestly...I'd be happy with just owning the Ducati Dealership and being able to ride any bike any time that would be like being a Sultan with a Class-A Harem.  [drool]

And they did quite fine with the "wrong bike".

SPOILER ALERT

http://www.usacracing.com/ppihc/ts/2012 (http://www.usacracing.com/ppihc/ts/2012)

And given the terrain of Pikes Peak, a Multistrada or Hypermotard is much better suited for racing than a superbike.

Those times must have been from the lower 1/3 portion of the course.

FWIW....( spoilers inside also )

http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/2012-pikes-peak-internationl-hill-climb-race-results/ (http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/racing/2012-pikes-peak-internationl-hill-climb-race-results/)

....With most of the field still comprised of supermoto bikes and a handful of flat trackers, the 1205cc class showed the most diversity in entries, with BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, and KTM all represented. The PPIHC crew isn’t keen on full-fledged sport bikes racing on the mountain, relegating those entries that did show up into the exhibition class. Though many thought the sport bikers would dominate this year, it was the adventure-touring bikes in 1205cc class that would lay siege to Pikes Peak, in more than impressive style.....

MAYBE Ducati and Audi should have waited until AFTER the race for the commercial shoot?

for supperduc since he mentioned ( and later retracted ) the Multi being the wrong bike...LOL

anyway you slice it, no matter your preference...that is some serious lean angle and riding style preference demonstrated there...one of the things that seems to be great about the Multi is it's ability to cater/adapt to the rider and their preferential riding style!!!
