Title: From diaval to monster 796 Post by: Gauzy on August 12, 2012, 04:40:12 AM Hey all , I'm new to the forum , and just want to say that in the past I have had the r6s , r1s , hayabusa and the last bike I had was the diaval , I had the diaval for 18 mths and although a great bike the rear suspension was a issue it was real stiff and the vibration in first and second was annoying ! On the motorway it was great but urban riding was a big issue and also from second gear to first the engine just cut out on me !! Luckily I wasn't going around a roundabout or it could have been a bit tricky !!
A couple weeks ago on the diaval I had lots of warning messages while coming home from work and the engine just cut out on me altogether !! Had Ducati assist come and pick the bike up and get it towed to where I got it from , they loaned me a Ducati monster 696 , and to be honest with ya it was a treat to ride I'd go as far to say it is the most comfortable and responsive bike I have rode , and on that basis I am trading my diaval in for a new 796 abs monster that should be hear in couple weeks and getting bit of cash back as well :) the only issue with the 696 is the lighting on the instruments !! Hard to see in daylight , just hope the 796 is a brighter display , but other than that can't wait for the 796 :) Title: Re: From diaval to monster 796 Post by: mickyvee on August 12, 2012, 07:48:03 AM [thumbsup] Congrats on the new bike! AFAIK all the Monster range use the same instrument display. It is very hard to read in sunlight, but great in the dark!

Monster is a really nice bike to ride and handles really well. As for the instrument display, on my 795 the brightness level is adjustable and even at the low setting I don't have problem reading it in daylight or at night. Same here. Never had a problem reading the display.. Mine has a more orangish backlight.. The only important information that is on the cluster when riding is only the temperature bars.. (And that information can easily be obtained by how hot your crotch is getting) Other things like speed are irrelevant anyway :-p Title: Re: From diaval to monster 796 Post by: SDRider on August 13, 2012, 01:54:16 PM Did you try the Streetfighter 848? I have a Monster 1100 EVO and I kind of prefer the SF.
The Diavel is a beast. I've ridden it but didn't care for the riding position or the look of the bike at all. Cruisers just ain't my bag. |
