I bought my 620 with 8K miles on it and the 6K service had been done. After about a year it was time for the 12K service so i took it in to my local dealer and he said the valves were perfect and didn't need adjusted. A few more months roll by and I decide to skip the 18K check. With the "big" 24K service looming and knowing the valves are way overdue I decide to rent a major service kit from www.ducatitoolrental.com (//http://) so I would have a complete shim kit on hand assuming an adjustment would be needed. Low and behold, the valves are still well within Ducati's specs and meet Lt Snyders recommendation for preferred clearances.
Is this pretty typical? With as often as Ducati recommends they be checked, I assumed adjustments were going to be needed regularly. (Not that I'm complaining! [thumbsup])

It's not unusual that after the initial adjustment they stay in spec for a while. I'd say the shop that did the 6k did a very good job. [thumbsup]

x2
probably combined with your riding style. if you rarely rev high, the valves will stay within spec much longer
Staying within Ducati's specs is easy, DT's a little tougher, getting closers to 0.000" usually requires a shim or four for me.
My last 13K interval didn't have any collets pulverized.
18K without an adjustment? Pretty good. What is DT's closer specs, .002"?

Yea, DT wants <.05mm (<.002"). All 4 of my closers were dead on .05mm.
