What's the best technique for a quick getaway from a standing start? If I apply too much gas the bike wants to stall I almost have to slip the clutch for what I feel is an eternity, whereas I see some riders use the gas as an on off switch, is there a technique?

More revs, feed in the clutch. . .
add throttle and subtract clutch at a somewhat equal rate. It takes practice. Not enough throttle and you stall. Too much and you wheelie.

Dirt bike guys use lots of throttle and use the clutch to bleed away power. Getting it right is a strong, steady pull from the line with the front wheel about six inches off the ground. I suppose that could work on the street too, but street riders generally don't treat their clutch as an expendable item they same way the dirt guys do.
What's your gearing and what bike are you on? That would help.
Hi thnx for the reply, I'm on a monster 796 standard gearing no 14t etc. it's difficult to judge sometimes with the termi's it probably sounds like I'm giving too much gas or I let the clutch out too quick and it feels as if I'm about to stall. I'm alos concerned about slipping the clutch too long - dam it's difficult I see those guys n there jap bikes and it all looks so smooth I look and sound like a newbie at times
I've been riding maybe 10 years and 40,000 miles and I still have that problem sometimes ;)
Don't worry about what other people are doing, just focus on you.
I will say, however, +2 teeth on the rear sprocket or -1 tooth on the front one will make leaving the line a ton easier and you wont give up much top end.
