I have an 07 S2R 1000. I recently put a Full Arrow exhaust sytem on the bike. I spoke to Arrow directly before I purchased the exhaust and I was told that no other mods had to be made to the bike when installing this system. The bike runs and sounds great but when I let off of the throttle in gear the bike backfires thru the exhaust. I spoke to Arrow again and they said that this could be taken care of with a TP adjustment or rezeroing in the bike and no aftemarket programmer would be needed. I pulled the plugs and they are white with a bit of tan on them so they dont look to lean . Does anybody have any Idea's?
An exhaust leak can cause backfiring. Make sure there are no leaks.
Are they loud pops? Do they happen all the time? Sometimes an exhaust will pop because the hot air/gas in the pipe will mix with the cold air from outside and cause a mini explosion of the unburnt gas in your muffler.
With my full Termi kit and ECU I sometimes get a few pops on decel. Nothing too loud, but it's noticeable.
Although Arrow may think you don't need any other mods, you may need the DP ECU. We both have a full exhaust, difference is I have the DP ECU. (my airbox is stock)
is your o2 sensor plugged in? unplug it, cover the check engine light and ride the bike for 100 miles. is it better? if so leave the thing unplugged and forget about it. a dp ecu is the correct fix but disabling the 02 works pretty well for free

I'm in this camp as my 1st guess. I had a small leak in my 620 that would cause popping on decel. Also rode a borrowed S4R, with a leak and it popped similarly. Since you just messed with all the exhaust connections it's quite possible one or another joint has a leak
