Title: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: BlackdogGS on September 02, 2012, 07:43:51 PM I just bought a 2010 Monster 1100S. I bought it on an online auction, I paid $5,900 for it, it only has 900 miles on the clock. After I got it home I did a close inspection and found it will need a brake and shift lever to put it back in excellent condition. This bike came with Termi carbon slip ons, race ECM and a bunch of Riz accessories. Even though I had no plates or insurance I let temtation get the best of me and I took it for a short ride. All I can say is WOW, this thing is not only the best looking bike around it's also fast, faster than anything I've ever owned.
My last Ducati I bought new in 1973 (Desmo 750). Im really glad Im back with them! Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: muskrat on September 02, 2012, 07:55:21 PM dam that's a great price. Congrats. Now post pics before everyone calls you a liar. [laugh]

Welcome anyway [Dolph] Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: Johnny5 on September 04, 2012, 05:03:08 PM Nope, he got a great deal, but this is the deal of the century. Ooph, that's like winning the lottery... lol. Where the heck are all these deals now that I'm ready??http://www.ducati.ms/forums/56-superbikes/134610-real-life-996-rebuild-thread.html (http://www.ducati.ms/forums/56-superbikes/134610-real-life-996-rebuild-thread.html) Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: BlackdogGS on September 05, 2012, 05:46:34 PM I'm still trying to figure out why it's so fast. Stock HP is 85, how much gain will a Termi and race ECM get you? My Buell had 100 HP and this bike feels stronger.

Thats it, net cost ? somewhere around 1500! personally. I didnt think it was worth it. And went with something just slightly less expensize, since there was no real HP gain.

I'm a BMW fan (I have a 2010 1200GS). I just read an article were they tested 6 high buck exhaust systems on a BMW 1200. 4 of the systems actually reduced HP and torque, 1 made no difference and only 1 showed a modest gain. As far as the Monster goes, I was hoping I'd get more than 1 HP with the exhaust and ecu, but what the hell, I didn't pay for it and it sounds great. I have a GS too, and have been looking for an exhaust system that would increase HP, there are just not that many. Unless you get a twin turbo :) http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/167bhp-twin-turbo-bmw-r1200gs/19582.html (http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news--general-news/167bhp-twin-turbo-bmw-r1200gs/19582.html) Sweet deal on that 1100S! I'm still on the lookout for an S4RS [Dolph] Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: Johnny5 on September 06, 2012, 01:16:27 PM I'm still trying to figure out why it's so fast. Termis and ECU really seem more to smooth out the fueling, though it does add some pep I would think. My first guess is that thing is geared down a tooth in front with a 14t which makes it feel pretty torque-ful off the line. It's funny you say that though, I just rode a stock 1100 EVO and it felt good but didn't have crazy power. I have not ridden a Buell in probably 3 years when I test rode a a stock XB12scg and just from memory the Buell seemed to have more pull, especially down low. The 1100 with a 14t I'm guessing would feel pretty meaty though... And damn I'm jealous Blackdog. That's a good deal that I wish I could stumble on... lol Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: BlackdogGS on September 06, 2012, 02:20:12 PM Termis and ECU really seem more to smooth out the fueling, though it does add some pep I would think. As soon as I get time I'm going to check the tooth count. Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: Greg on September 06, 2012, 02:44:16 PM I'm still trying to figure out why it's so fast. Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: BlackdogGS on September 09, 2012, 10:04:32 AM Upon closer inspection I found it does have a 14 sprocket. This my explain the great acceleration. What sprocket tooth count is stock?

Not that I would ever do anything like that. Title: Re: Thoughts on my new 1100S Post by: duc996 on September 10, 2012, 04:29:51 AM Congrats you lucky bastard :-) enjoy the ride!

Since I sold the Buell I started missing my daily wheelies. |
