Title: Turn indicators flashing AFTER ignition is turned off
Post by: Vishwacorp on September 04, 2012, 06:09:53 PM
I have a 2005 Ducati Monster 620, with an integrated rear tail light. Lately, the right turn indicators on the front and the back start flashing for about 5 seconds AFTER I turn the bike off. With the bike on, all indicators & lights work and flash at the proper frequency.

Is this something not working right or some sort of an error code? I've attached a (crappy) video of the issue too so please take a look. Also, your speakers work fine! My phone just refused to record any audio.

Thanks.

It just means your bike momentarily thinks its an 80yr old man driving on the freeway....
JK, I don't know what your problem is. Some kind of bleed over maybe?

Dunno, except it probably has to be something to do with the cluster itself since the flasher is integrated into the cluster.  You might try a PM to suzyj.

+1

The clusters with the integrated flashers have caused similar issues on other models as well.

Internal corrosion might be the culprit.

Thanks for your help gentlemen. Sorry to not reply to this earlier, but the corrosion theory makes sense, as I do find small amounts of water under my seat after a rainy ride (thanks to my tailchop).

The bike has been doing this exact thing for the past 4 months now with no other adverse effects, so I haven't really bothered to fix it. I'll post an update if it ever worsens, or fixes itself.

I take it you have no windscreen of any kind on the bike and ride in the wet/rain regularly?...if so...it would explain how the cluster ends up getting the moisture in for to create this issue....sorry on addressing the cause instead of the problem...

The problem with ignoring the situation until it gets worse is the next issue might be that the bike will not start due to immobilizer issues.

There's no real good solution as the gauges are not sealed very well, but I'd start looking in to my options sooner rather than later.

i've seen a few do this.  i tell owners they can live with it or replace the dash.  no one has replaced a dash yet.
