Title: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: 118811 on September 07, 2012, 01:16:11 PM I see there's a new toll Hwy in Texas which will have a 85 mph speed limit.
Time to get a SBK [thumbsup] [Dolph] Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: rsoffar on September 07, 2012, 01:28:29 PM about time. They have been talking about that for a while. Austin to San Antonio in no time [evil]
Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: Greg on September 07, 2012, 01:37:57 PM If I'm going to be between San Antonio and Austin, I'd rather go to the track in San Marcos where there is no speed limit ;D
Harris Hill Road CW 10/17/10 (re-paved) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eFdKB9d9gs&feature=related#) Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: muskrat on September 07, 2012, 03:55:07 PM no need to go anywhere other than any tollway in Texas. If you're not doing 85 you WILL be run over. It's the FM roads where you get busted. ;D
Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: the_Journeyman on September 07, 2012, 07:13:35 PM That's like the last trip between the Gulf side of FL and the NC mountains. I'm not sure we really ever dropped below 80 until we were well north of Atlanta into the non-interstate roads.

Austin to San Antonio in no time [evil] The road is toll 130 which leaves IH-35 north of San Marcos, bypasses east of Austin (thank God) and rejoins IH-35 north of Round Rock (if northbound). Its been open for a few years, posted at 80 for about a year, now going to 85.Helps a lot travelling from San Marcos/points south to Waco/points north and vice-versa. Not much help for Austin to SA unless you're starting from the far north end of the Austin metroplex. I use it from my house SE of Austin (near the COTA track under construction) (http://circuitoftheamericas.com/) to head to CMRA club races (http://www.cmraracing.com) at Motorsport Ranch and Eagles Canyon near Dallas/Ft Worth and Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Tulsa. Its a boring superslab with long sweepers - actually not much fun at all on the bike (or in the truck for that matter). Just somewhat fast travel dodging the kludge which is I-35 through the Austin metroplex. I'd say the LEO patrol rate is "medium" and the speed tolerance is "low". We can only dream down here.. Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... Post by: seanster on September 08, 2012, 09:04:34 PM So +10 of speed limit = 95....do they even want to catch you if u were on a bike ;D
Anyhow...I'll be testing out this new increase this Monday heading to north Austin from H-town. Or not I'll just do the 290 route. Title: Re: Next ride in Texas...85 mph.... I've heard no stories of such "pleasantries" since I've been in Texas. There's a no chase policy at 100+ BTW. [evil] Not true on the State Troopers, got a warning a couple months back for doing 98 in a 70. If you're nice to them, they will sometimes cut you some slack. Post by: Autostrada Pilot on September 10, 2012, 11:45:13 AM We have 80 mph limits through central and southern Utah (makes getting to Vegas faster). Long, straight, flat roads-only problem is that semis can't go that fast.
