I took apart the stock headlight today to do some investiagtion on how all of the various cables will plug and play.

To be able to install the kit stealth and corrrectly I would have to drill a hole in the black plastic headlight housing.  The drilled hole would have to be a decent size to fit the cables and small cubes that are part of the cables.   On top of that I would need the right size water proof grommet.

I'm no McGyver and the chances of finding the right grommet is a crap shoot.   I'm searching online for one but I think I am just going to return the kit.

I have that better PIAA bulb in my headlight right now but it isn't the greatest.  I was hoping this kit would be easy.

oh, I did try and do a search for some old threads but I came up short.

dont use the search on the top right, use the one on the top left.

I would advise against installing the HID anyway and getting brighter bulbs. Phillips xtremes are pretty good IMHO.

He Man is too modest:

There are other solutions too.  Problem is a headlight reflector and lens are designed for a specific bulb.  Different bulb, for example a HID, the optics are not correct.  Fact is the conversion of your H4 to HID works well for you, the rider, but not so well for others as the light is very scattered.  Do make sure your headlight is aimed properly, it can make a difference.

Thanks guys. I read the thread above. Those HID are very diffferent from the h4 HID kit I received. The ones in the thread seems like the HID is in its own housing.

Whereas in the kit i received, the HID is a bulb which is shaped like an h4.   So it looks the same but brighter.

But your point is well take that the HID bulb that I received may still disperse light very differnently than a halogen.  I was working during the day so couldnt compare. It was bright when I turned it on.

I don't ride at night much but coming back form Laguna Seca this year my buddy was following behind me and my headlight was barely covering anything.   His headlight(gsxr-600) was so bright I could see my own shadow in front of me and his light was covering more area around me. It had me concerned that my light was limiting my ability to have a better reaction time to anything in front of me. Slowing down can add more reaction time of course.

I'm very diligent about checking headlight aim too, so I know my beam isnt pointing up. I think the shop manual says 9/10ths from ground up to the level point from 30' away. I may not have described that correctly but the graphic in the manual is pretty straight forward.
