While researching how to adjust the TPS, I came across the following article on another Ducati forum:
"The 2002 onward ducatis have a sealed computer, meaning when u install a half system or a full system, instead of just replacing a chip(about 200 bucks) you have to replace the whole computer(650 bucks) and then you have to alter the mapping."
Is this accurate? My bike came with a full Arrow exhaust. How can I verify that my computer was replaced, if a replacement is necessary?
Also, I am in the process of replacing my steering bearings. Any recommendations with brands other than Ducati? I know Speedy Moto makes a set and they're significantly less expensive.

You can also have those ecu's reflashed.
Is your immobilizer functional?
what is the immobilizer?

what is the immobilizer?
It's an anti theft device built in to the ecu.
It won't allow the bike to start unless there is a properly chipped key inserted into the ignition, and gauges that match what the ecu wants to see.
Is there a blinking yellow led on your gauge cluster?

Yes...

Yes...
I believe that you have either a stock or DP ecu because I think if yours was flashed the immobilizer light would not function.
How does the bike run?
With latest software immobilizer light remains after reflashing, at least that's the case with mine. ;)
You can also look at the ECU serial #s to see if it's stock or DP.

Does your immobilizer work?
I had read that you now have the option of disabling or not.
??? I havn't checked. I had the ECU reflashed then I reinstalled it and
rode away.

How does the bike run?
Well... it runs fine, I guess. Question is, how good can it run? I bought the bike about 18 mos ago with 12K miles. Seemed to run fine, but previous owner doesn't seem to have been a real stickler for maintenance and doing everything possible to get 110% out of a bike like this. The bike even has a power commander... and after I get the throttle bodies and tps adjusted, I plan on having the bike dyno'd and making sure everything is dialed in.
Otherwise, when I push the button, it starts. And when I twist the throttle, the bike produces a deafening sound and takes me where I wanna go. [thumbsup]
It should be pretty strong. The 996 is a 110 ish hp motor.
How's the driveability? Is it smooth...no stuttering or flat spots?
I believe now you have a stock ecu and the PC was used to add the necessary fuel because of the system.
It's the alternative to a DP or reflashed ecu.
