Title: Finally installed the tail chop this past weekend
Post by: jrswanson1 on September 10, 2012, 02:45:55 AM
My right side rear tail light fell off because the section of the fender that holds it on broke.  So I got the go ahead from the wife to get the tail chop.  I got this one http://www.ducatimonstertailchop.com/monster-fender-eliminator-m696-m796-m1100/ (http://www.ducatimonstertailchop.com/monster-fender-eliminator-m696-m796-m1100/) and managed to install it after I made a trip to the hardware store to get a hack saw.  I thought I lost my original hack saw, but I found it after I got done cutting  [bang]  [laugh]  I finished up about 2:00 Saturday afternoon.  I checked the turn signals and brakes,  [thumbsup]  Then I tried the seat lock  [thumbsdown]  I think I missed something, I can barely get the key in, as the frame is partially blocking access.  At this point, I stuck the seat back on, put the cover on, and watched as the heavens opened up and rain came pouring down.

Sunday afternoon, I got on and did a spin around town, got some gas, and headed home.  Everything is still on good and snug.  I rode her into work this morning, everything is still there.  Not as bad a job as I thought it was going to be.  The only other complaint I have with the kit is the pictures in the instructions could have been bigger.

ETA:  The license plate lighting is MUCH better than stock.  The little LEDs really light things up.

After contacting the company about this, I put the spacers they sent with the kit in and now I can easily access the seat lock  [thumbsup]  So far, nothing has fallen off, and the bike looks better than stock.
