they're bringing formula 1 here to NJ in 2013 i believe, and they were doing this promo running the red bull f1 car through the lincoln tunnel. There is absolutely zero spin up, zero spin down. Not to mention it is a sonic assault on your body and the nitro fumes sting your eyes and nose. Great fun.

They're like a light-switch, they're just suddenly running at the limiter - no revving up at all, just from idle to BRAAAAAP! And back to idle. As silly as straight-line-racing might seem, Top Fuel Drag motors are _amazing_ things. Holy shit. No damn wonder I'm deaf. Even with foam plugs and muffs on it's incredible! And the concussion (for the lack of a better term) that hits you when the Christmas tree goes green makes you think an IED just went off in front of you minus the debris and injury. Top Fuel cars are sick. Although I've never been down "at the lights" for a launch, I've been fortunate enough to be in the hospitality areas a few times while they are warming the cars up.
