Title: What's the deepest, throatiest exhaust out there?
Post by: ikillterrorists on September 26, 2012, 09:02:19 AM
I would like to have a nice deep sound, but not TOO expensive either...

My impression is that a deep bass comes from large size and probably carbon.

Do a search for GPR - recently discussed - nice price!
DanMoto Chinese made - affordable and do the job.

Danmoto is so cheap!

How is this one?
Will I have to alter anything else with the bike if I get these?

I have some on my s2r1k along with the TPO Beast Air Intake and it sounds rowdy [evil].
The bike is otherwise un-altered, although I plan on getting it mapped/tuned.
On the engine brake it lets out some pops abound 4 grand so I try to keep the RPMs up or pull in the clutch.

You can buy almost any exhaust and then repack it with stainless gauze.

I have a Sparks kit on my S2R and repacked it.  I took a huge lump of fibreglass packing out and repacked with stainless.  The sound was a bit louder and lower pitched just from my ear.  You can tune a lot doing that alone.

Those look very nice to me.

The only issue I have is that I have a tail chop and think Monsters look far better with a chop -- and if the cans are too long it looks goofy IMHO.  but you can cut cans without much effort.

Okay I'm going to get the Arrow high mounts...should I get carbon fibe or titanium?
I like the look of titanium better I think...is there a sound difference?

There might be.

One plus to the Ti is it won't burn like c/f as the packing wears out.

And Ti won't fade over time.  (even the best Carbon yellows, albeit slower)

does Ti transmitt heat? I found my favorite thing about carbon was that it doesnt  get too hot.

ti gets hot enough to work a cat convertor.

that's why the only termi that can get street credentials is the Ti cans.

Leo Vince Carbon SBK sound deep without being obnoxious! If jetted right, they sound deep and smooth and no popping except for one little one occasionally.

I was gonna suggest Heather Brooke.

It's a "teaching moment." Like wisecracks that ensue following someone posting a tech thread about "tranny problems."  ;D
