Title: Sitting at light... Post by: qadthane on September 27, 2012, 03:24:41 PM Coming home tonight just ahead of me at a red light is fellow biker. Bike is in neutral, not a big deal. Kickstand is down, really dude? He is messing around with his phone, Jesus Christ, are you kidding? Of course the light changes, who knew THAT would happen. He has to put his phone away, put his stand up, get the bike in gear and finally drive away. All this while wearing Kermit the Frog green Nikes. wtf...

Seriously? He needed the kickstand down because he couldn't balance his bike AND check his booty calls? JM Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: fastwin on September 28, 2012, 07:25:45 AM [laugh] [laugh]
Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: Adamm0621 on September 28, 2012, 07:20:27 PM I've pulled off of the road to check the GPS on my phone before (need to get a handlebar mount), but I've never seen that in traffic. Makes you wonder about some people... [bang]

I watched some guy on a yamaha ss come to a light, put the kickstand down and just sit there in neutral with both feet on the pegs. I don't get it... you just want to put an extra 170lbs of leverage on your kickstand and the mounting point that holds it on? Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: He Man on September 29, 2012, 10:23:44 AM You know i think he put the kick stand down so he could avoid a ticket. cant be called for texting and riding if the bike wont go with the kickstand down. kind like drinking and driving. if the key is in the trunk and ur in the car, u can never be ticketed for attempting to drink and drive.
Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: Slide Panda on September 29, 2012, 12:49:10 PM Wouldn't that be parking in a traffic lane then?
Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: He Man on September 29, 2012, 01:06:30 PM if youre at a light you are technically parked :P
Besides if you were in a manual car, how do you define park? "officer i forgot the ebrake was on, i swear!!" besides in NYC you spend more time parked in traffic than you do moving, so its an invalid point! Title: Re: Sitting at light... That don't work, if you're behind the wheel you were attempting to drive. Wait how do I know that for sure. :D Title: Re: Sitting at light... Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: somegirl on October 02, 2012, 08:01:24 PM Out here in CA it's about a $300 fine if they catch you texting at a red light.
Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: He Man on October 02, 2012, 09:28:12 PM i should probably find out how legal that is in nyc. i do that shit all the time. its not like i can actually ride while texting. and its not like the motorcycle can even move while im texting either so i never found it to be a problem.
HOWEVER i did get 2 visor up tickets, once was while standing at a red light so.... apparently walking around isnt safe either. ur eyes must be protected at ALL TIMES. brb putting on my helmet now. Post by: SDRider on October 03, 2012, 08:45:14 AM if you wear protective glasses under your helmet and have the visor up do you get a ticket [leo] Strangely enough, it isn't illegal to ride here with your visor up and no glasses on. Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: bob795 on October 03, 2012, 05:31:35 PM if you wear protective glasses under your helmet and have the visor up do you get a ticket [leo] why is that? Is there any safety reason behind that? Title: Re: Sitting at light... Post by: the_Journeyman on October 03, 2012, 05:36:21 PM Eye protection law.
