Title: Bike purchase via Paypal?
Post by: Raux on October 01, 2012, 12:03:13 PM
So, I put the ST2 up for sale here in Europe.

I got an offer for the bike via email. Guy is saying he wants to pay via paypal and he'll cover the fee.

but he always says he wants to send the bike to the states.
oh and says due to health he can't call?

scam?

yeah that's what I was thinking

I told him I won't do business unless he sends a bank draft. once it clears then I'll release the bike to him. I would do the same for a local.

there is no reason why anybody would by a bike from Europe and ship it to the US when the bike is cheaper and is readily available in the US.  not being able to call?  lame!

Pile on the scam...um... pile.

As said, no reason to go through the cost of shipping an ST2 across the pond. They can be found here.

Let him know you've got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale too.

Dude.

Let him send you the paypal.

Then see what happens.

But set up a separate account.

The worst that can happen is paypal takes the money back.  Which they have 90 days to do.

The bridge is no longer for sale.  Anyone have some used toll booths they would like to sell me?  Yes, DMF members will be exempt from the toll.

I have a boat up for sale on craigslist and only guys who work on offshore oil rigs with no cell service seem to be interested....and they all have local contacts......scammers do tell some interesting stories.

I'd guess its going to be a charge back scam - if it feels wrong it probably is wrong
