Okay i swear this is the last one!
I havent been able to get in contact with Penske (phones are wacky today and been in the basement), but whats the difference between the 8760 and 8987?
They are both triple adjustables but there are some 8760s that pop up for bikes. THey seem to be the exact same thing to me. just application.
When I get home I'll check my Penske manual.

Already googled and saw that. There is no functional difference between the two. If you say its the way the piggyback is mounted then thats not a difference. The 8760 is not listed on penskes site as a motorcycle shock. From other sites, they keep calling it the ultimate adjustable shock with high and low speed compression damping, but so does the 8987. THe 8770 is actually referenced as a car shock, so what is it doing in a motorcycle?

to me a different piggyback style/mount makes it a big difference as far as mounting on different bikes.
so having a different model number makes sense for that change
they both have piggy backs. one is parallel to the deck the other is perpendicular to the deck.
the 8987 is referenced as the same shock both with a piggy back and remote reservoir.
The 8760 shock is not listed as a motorcycle shock on penskes website.
on first glance the only difference is the reservoir body, but it makes no sense to make a completely different designation for it.
If you check their motorcycle fill in sheet, you have 4 options for reservoir types and all are the 8900 series. Ill find out today when I call. I was just curious if anyone here knew off the top of their head.

on the 8987 the high and low speed is one circuit, the 8760 the high and low speed are two different circuits and are independent of each other.
