Title: protecting fork sliders
Post by: Privateer on October 07, 2012, 06:55:29 PM
I searched but didn't see anything.

Other than the superbike fender, are there any solutions for protecting fork sliders from road debris?

thanks

There's the things from the hyper motard too.. not sure how they are held in place though

I bought a pair of fork boots on eBay that work ok.  They zipper on, but are a pain to keep in place and the zipper is cheap and goes off track often but I guess better than nothing

LT Snyder sells Shock Soks...

That's what I use.  The nylon wire ties used to hold them have a tendency to vanish.  Once I switched to some SS ties (usually sold for exhaust wrapping), I've had no problems.

thanks for the ideas.

I wonder if these would work: http://www.traxxion.com/ConventioalForkGuardKit.aspx (http://www.traxxion.com/ConventioalForkGuardKit.aspx)

Any one used them?

I know my first bike (KTM 560SMR Supermoto) had some pretty awesome fork protectors. They were pretty nice as you could easily paint the part or sticker it up! They were screwed into the bottom of the fork. (might be able to use a setup off the axle bolts off the bottom of the fork if you do it right) I think it would be pretty easy to mount them to a fork.  Another option might be fork tube mounting.  Pretty much a 1-2" rubber strap that goes around the fork with plastic sheilds for the protectors.  Come to think of it.... i think i like the look myself....might have to do the same.... lol

Heres a pic of my old bike with the fork shields.

I have some neoprene sock things I got from a generic motorcycle shop.  I think they are intended for dirtbikes, but they slip over monster forks pretty easily from the top.

these are pretty awesome, but not for monsters... this is exactly the look I want, I wonder how convertible they are...

The only non-compatible part of those with the monster is the front fender.  If you run no fender or an SC fender like in the pic, no problem.  If you run the monster fender, you might have to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle the mounting bit underneath the fender.  If you run a SBK fender... I got nothing.

I did that too but they seemed to all be for dirt bikes and I wasn't confident that would work.
