Title: 620 to 1100 Conversion? Need your input.
Post by: 2 Wheel Wanderer on October 15, 2012, 12:51:18 PM
Hi all, I have a perfectly good 2005 Monster 620 with Termis and DP ecu. I have an opportunity to buy a wrecked 2009 M1100 with 12k miles for $2k. The project would be to swap engines either using all of the 1100 components or try to use all the components of the 620. Wire harness, TB's, DP ecu, etc. the thought being I could tune the 1100 the way I wanted instead of using the stepper motor and dealing with the issues that brings. There are other issues to be worked out but I am confident I can find solutions for them.

The 09 also comes with Vance and Heins slip on's.

I just wanted to get some thought from you guys before I pull the trigger on this.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Yep, did that as well as researched other threads.

I guess what I am wondering if $2k is a decent deal for this bike as well as setup and configuration thoughts.

well consider that you are getting a motor, TB and wireharness and ECU for $1000, wheels for $1000 and its already worth it. You just need to plug and play. not to mentio nswingarm. and ia ssume the forks are trashed at that kinda cost. or the front rim is bent?

the only difference is that you are running the DS1100 motor, and im running the Single spark 1100 motor. there is a power difference between the two, but to you, its both huge gains.
