Title: Warning to Interstaters going to the GP through Gippsland! Post by: dragonworld. on October 19, 2012, 08:43:25 PM Got this off Facebook from a Bike site!!
WARNING!!!! The roads in Bass Coast Shire and South Gippsland Shire are riddled with dangerous potholes. High rainfall, poor road maintenance and heavy traffic has resulted in deep, sharp edged holes forming on both major and minor roads. This includes the Bass Highway and the South Gippsland Highway. They are predominantly in car wheel tracks but are often difficult to spot. If/When travelling to and from the 2012 MotoGP please keep this in mind. These holes constitute a significant danger to motorcyclist. Be particularly careful when riding in tight groups or following too closely behind other vehicles. Regards, Local rider Geoff --------------------------------------------------- Thanks Geoff for keeping folks updated. If you're at the GP, and you find yourself at the Spokes stand, you might want to ask them which is more important: spending money to incentivise riders to wear leather, or spending money to fix potholes so that riders won't come off in the first place...
