Title: Circuit of The Americas Post by: muskrat on October 23, 2012, 11:12:11 AM I will gladly take on the responsibility of getting group tickets for the event next year BUT the caveat is that you will pay up-front. There will be no, I'll check and get back to you, either you commit or give up your spot. There's too much money at stake to have a list of folks who can't fully commit to the event.
So, who is in? I'm also thinking hotel in downtown so we can at least drink and not have to cab or drive anywhere unless there's a "willing" drive to shuttle people around. Start sounding off ASAP! 2013 MotoGP™ April 19-21, 2013 • Austin, Texas The ultimate test for the finest talents in motorcycle racing, get ready Austin! Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: fastwin on October 23, 2012, 12:09:17 PM I've got friends in Austin amped over this race but I will pass. Call me a curmudgeon...I know you would! [laugh], but I am not a DORNA fan and as much as I like Austin and have many friends there the only reason I would go is to see them and have migas for breakfast at Cisco's! Mmmmmm.... Cisco's migas! [drool] Not a fan of the awful traffic and the procession parade that MotoGP has become. WSBK... maybe. Not the Honda-Yammyhammer GP series. Notice I didn't mention Ducati? [bang] And the CRT bikes barely stay ahead of the safety/pace car. :P
Wake me up when WSBK shows up. ;) Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: muskrat on October 23, 2012, 12:56:08 PM a simple no old fart. [bang]
Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Duc L'Smart on October 23, 2012, 01:37:37 PM I will gladly pay you Tuesday for Moto GP tickets today... ;D
Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on October 23, 2012, 08:19:02 PM I'd suggest we wait for the Ducati Island package. It's usually a three-day reserved seating in the Ducati section, pit pass, parade lap, Ducati Island bike parking and free Ducati Island hospitality tent for around $150. Watch the DNA site and Facebook page for updates. Indy is about to announce their 2013 Ducati Island package, so I wonder what the hold-up is with COTA?

[beer] Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Cher on October 24, 2012, 04:22:24 AM I will make this trip, only because I think the crowds will be half of what they'll be for F1 so there's an 80% chance we'll actually be able to get to the track in time to see the start. Ducati Island also gets my vote. Have you decided on a hotel yet? Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: muskrat on October 24, 2012, 12:25:38 PM ducati island it is then. if someone sees it before I do let me know ASAP.
I'm thinking the Hilton on 4th because they have a HUGE underground parking if we want to bring our bikes. the hotel is nice and two bars on site as well. Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on October 24, 2012, 04:15:47 PM DNA usually designates a hotel in Indianapolis and Monterey as their race weekend headquarters/information center, usually the one where the MotoGP circus is staying. There might be a group package for Ducati owners, but you have to keep a sharp eye on the Ducati Island page, it will book up quickly. I wonder if any Texas-based Ducati shops or other DOCs are planning anything?

Can one still get in on Duc Island ticket sans Duc? Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on November 07, 2012, 08:40:37 PM Yes. Parking your Duc is an optional part of the Ducati Island package. You don't need to bring your bike, but the Ducati hospitality tent is for owners only, with free Cappucino, biscotti, bottled water, hat, T-shirt, and shade. You need to present proof of Ducati ownership to the credentialing person at the door. Proof of insurance will do. Any race attendee can wander through the Ducati Island, buy Ducati branded gear and apparel from dealers, attend the Ducati "fashion" shows, view the racing, historic and custom bikes on display, ask the Ducati models to pose with you for pictures, etc. Or that was my experience at Laguna Seca in 2010, anyway.

She's usually the person organizing the full Ducati experience in the US rounds. She usually gets group rates in specific hotels, which they call Duc Central or something like that, for the out-of-towners. She's also the person that usually organizes the weekend passes/parking on Ducati Island. If you guys are part of a DOC, then you'll probably be getting all the info through them.

Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Cher on November 19, 2012, 04:49:29 AM [coffee] So... what did 'ya think about COTA and the race? Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on November 19, 2012, 07:18:11 AM Lewis Hamilton obviously liked it a lot.
It looks extremely well designed for spectators, and I really like those esses. I thought you were going ??? Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Cher on November 19, 2012, 08:59:00 AM Nope. Gonna wait another year or two. Sounds like the traffic situation in and out of the track wasn't as bad as predicted so that's a huge plus in my book [thumbsup] That's the reason I wasn't going to try it first time out. We were here when the NASCAR track opened... huge NIGHTMARE. Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: muskrat on November 27, 2012, 02:54:26 PM Nothing yet. CalsCrazy is buying tickets for us week of the 10th and I'm checking on Ducati island pass. If you're not already in touch with him send him a PM

We were here when the NASCAR track opened... huge NIGHTMARE. Glad Austin at least has their act together [clap] Yes, they did a great job. I took back roads in to the parking lot located about a mile away. The shuttle ran pretty smooth there and back all 3 days. The only time there was a jam was when you attempted to walk out through the bottleneck at turn 1. Future reference..walk on the outside of fence!! I doubt there will be more people there for the GP. It was a great turnout though. I stuck around Turns 1-11. The straight away was incredible at the end by turns 12-14. The sound of f1 anyway. Not sure how that will be for GP? Even on race day..it didn't seem like there was as many people there. Get General seats unless you know you want a specific turn. I was very happy walking around and seeing from the different angles. Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on January 09, 2013, 10:08:27 AM Still waiting for Ducati COTA 2013 package. Ducati Island webpage just says "soon":

Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Duc L'Smart on January 21, 2013, 03:29:39 PM I'm DEF in for this!!!!!!!!! Is someone getting a block of tickets or do I need to just buy 1 on my own?!?!?!?
Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Pinocchio on January 21, 2013, 06:10:06 PM I don't see why we couldn't buy our own grandstand packages, but the seats may be reserved, so to get them all together, we should buy as a group. Then there is the matter of deciding which hotel we are going to stay at - my preference is the cheapest one on the COTA list that is closest to the track, and I would like a roommate. I don't snore, BTW. ;D
Title: Re: Circuit of The Americas Post by: Duc L'Smart on January 22, 2013, 09:32:31 AM Yes, the seats are reserved, but all seats at Ducati Island are the same price... and do you really want to sit by me anyway?!?!? :D
