Title: Saddlebag Suggestions/Solutions?
Post by: Smolt on October 25, 2012, 05:02:20 PM
Hi!

I have a s2r 800 with high mount dual side pipes, was wondering if anyone had any opinions of saddlebags that would fit?  I tried looking on ebay and google but found no saddlebags made specifically for the ducati monster.  Anyone know of any generic brand saddle bags that fit well and work fine?  Thanks!!

There is a single-side bag available from DP, or was.

Givi also makes a T680 frame that holds a bag off the exhaust, and bags to go with it.

Monsterparts (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/T680/Comfort-Touring/T680.html) has the racks on its site for $69.

I have used the frame, and it works but not great, as you'd expect. Probably quite good for small bags and light loads. But hanging the bag out past that exhaust on straps is not the neatest idea.

I assume this stuff fits the 800, can't confirm.

For carrying a lot of stuff, my suggestion would be a) big tank bag; b) add big seat bag; c) add the single-side bag.

I have used the Chase Harper stealth bags thrown across the tank, and now I have a set of wolfman dry bags to hang off the trellis in front. The chases aren't weatherproof at all, and don't really last in Arizona sun.

Edited for clarity now that I am on a computer rather than  a "smart" phone.

I have the same question especially concerning the Givi frames.  Both models from Monsterparts have the warning that there are issues with fender eliminators but I'm not sure why, can't see from the pictures.  Mine is a new gen 796 with high mount pipes both sides, Ducati have bags for a cool 600 bucks.  I'd like to do better than that  [roll]

On the older style bikes, the frames bolt to plugs at the end of the seat tubes. Chop the tubes and there is no rear mount.

Can't speak for the new models but likely the same issue.
