Title: Manual fuel petcock
Post by: garryc on October 27, 2012, 01:36:07 AM
Sorry Guys,
i know this issue has been dealt with many times.
Looking for advice on what petcock.
i had a look at a Motionpro one online
P12036 Motion Pro 5/16" In Line Fuel Valve Petcock 3/16" I.D. Max 300cc
This is the only one coming up on an ebay search.
looks similar to ones others have posted previously but the recommendation for max 300 cc
Any comments?.
Also do those that use a manual petcock turn fuel off and run the float bowl empty when parking bike in garage, common practice for the old bevels and does this help in stopping carby from varnishing up or does this just allow internals to dry out and harden up
thanks

If you're not racing then the MP valve will be just fine. I just ordered the same one myself along with a new inline filter from JetsRUs.
About the internals, they should be fine if you choose to drain them. Tons of people do similar for winter storage.

The inside diameter will flow more fuel than you ever need.  Should you turn the valve off when parking?  Yes.  Do I?  No.  If the bike was going on a truck or trailer I would.  Run the fuel out of the carbs?  No reason to.

I only turn mine off when trailering.

I do run the bowls dry for winter storage.
