8am roll up at the Shell servo on the corner of The Boulavarde and The Princes Hwy.

Then off we go at 8:30 thereabouts.  [Dolph]

Would love to Matty but my bike will need servicing after Turismo and it's not booked in until end of November so I can't be racking up too many miles before then.

not to mention it's a bit far for me to come for a day ride  [roll]

I'm pretty keen to take my (new to me) S2R out for her first ride.

(PS - I only just got my full licence & am not keen to lose it yet. Are these rides relatively sedate, occassional hooligan-ish or 'cop bait'?)

Bummer!  [thumbsdown] Been keen-as to finally get out on a ride with "y'all" since I joined this forum FOUR years ago  :o...and yet again thwarted! - wedding to attend Sat 17th  [bang] and taking my kids to Coldplay Sun 18th...

Beginning to doubt it will ever happen. Have a good one sans yours truly, dudes & dudettes...

If we get a reasonable turn-out (which this is headed for) there is usually quite a spread of rider experience/skill/confidence levels ... from those that can ride to those that think they can ride and then those that know they can't [cheeky]. The pace is down to the individual and there should be no pressure to perform.

Also we try to avoid unnecessary overtaking so the quicker guys usually lead graduating down to a slow bastard like me at the back. Some people don't come to these rides because they don't like waiting for others ... but that is their choice. It is intended to be a social ride ... fun but not a race and not competitive.

As for infringements ... you're on your own ... even a 'sedate' pace can get you into trouble.

If memory serves me correctly PAUL one of the last times we rode with you I noticed
a police pusuit vehicle chasing you  ;D
Oh yes there were a couple of other familliar names in that group booking ahhh cough cough woof woof  ;D

Hi Wayne,

The rides can be as sedate or as spirited as you like. With newbies, I strongly suggest that you hang around the back for the first ride and just enjoy it. Down the track  you can work out where you best feel comfortable. They are definately not a race, lets keep that for track days. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy the day, the company, plus, of more importance, to get home in one piece and with a smile on your face. I hope that allays any fears or second thoughts you have about joining in on the day.

We'll have to see how we pull up ... another 500+ day with 2 hour commutes on either end ... far too early to know.

Have a look at the first post Nilbor click on on the "Southern Loop" and you'll see the map.
As for weather, it will be the same as ever. If it's raining no-one pokes their noses out, if it's a little threatening well it's up to each person.

  It would be nice to know who you are and what you ride just so we know who to look out for etc. we do try to leave pretty sharp-ish so if you have problems arriving at the morning meet PM me to grab my number or anyone else's.  

The meeting point is on the Princes Hwy corner of The Boulevarde in Gymea/Kirrawee
It's a Shell servo on the left hand side of the road heading south.

Meeting at 8am for an 8:30 departure

Been away 3 days shooting this week plus shooting Saturday and I'll still be there  [thumbsup]

Now as always we will be up for a weather check cause we all know no one likes to ride in the rain.

Weather check will be early unless of course this lovely cloud cover and liquid disappears.

So folks at this stage, 10:30 Saturday night the weather says
60% chance of rain/showers scattered in the morning with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon.

So I will be up and looking out the window before 7am, Rob and Dez if you are coming let me know how it looks up there and we can all make a collective decision on going out.

To me, that says ride. There are three logical "pull out" points on the ride:
- Bald Hill, after the Royal National Park
- Robertson, after getting to the top of Macquarie Pass
- Kangaroo Valley, the complete ride

They're all easy point to turn back from - just follow the big green signs and return on the boring non-twisty roads,

If you're worried you might get caught in the 2-8mm of forecast rain, then these might also be an option to go home at.

I'll be there at 8am, as I am a goldfish and hence is not bothered by a little water!

cloudy but no rain at hornsby ....roads are dry ..........if its on enjoy the ride........radar at the moment is clear.............think of how much fun we had watching a certian ozmo throw his leg over his steed in fully wet weather gear on the last alpine ride

Another eventful OzMo ride, first part all went well. Got to the top of Bulli Pass area overhead sign says accident Mt Ousley loads of traffic not looking good.

Turn right head out to Appin start passing loads of trucks figure out it was Camp Quality convoy must of been 500 trucks stuck in traffic!
Make our way out through the gorge toward Wilton turn back down Picton Road onto Mt Keira, heading down there and on the way again. Mid road at the awkward off camber corner that gets tighter a riders goes down.

Sorry you had an acco Dedy, very glad you are alright hope the bike makes it back on the road. A little further down the road we pull up as Mt Keira road is closed!!! WTF.......
Clint heads down the road for a wee look to see if it's actually true.
No we can get through so after a while of sorting out who's staying and who's going after Dedys little trip into nature we head off.
Get down the bottom and spy the traffic underneath still heading down the freeway!!!

A quick decision and we head back up through Wollongong and along the coast road to under Bald Hill at Stanwell for an average meal in a nice location.
We then hear that Brian and Rob and others have found there way to the Pie Shop (how did ya get there) and were wondering where we were.

Hope you all had a good day even if it was a little on and off and on and off......

Wow how difficult can a Sunday ride get!!

Difficult I guess Heather and today it was a little.
But we still got out for a ride and that was the main thing.

You should do it more often, practice makes perfect.  ;D

   Well it did start out so promising,the weather was great and a good turnout. We did need to divert up the Appin rd and thru the Broughton Pass (I bet that was a first for most) and down Picton road and so far so good. Then Dedy had a lapse of attention and on that Mt Keira rd there's no room for error and suddenly he's into the leaves, soft dirt and the armco. He is ok, bikes insured, a lesson learned.
    Thanks Brian for your offer to get your van but we got the bike home with Motomotion and it was a very fast,professional service, highly recommend. Hope nobody needs it but put this number in 1300 66 34 18.
     It was so great to get so many out for a ride, better luck next time.

After  Dedy and Steve were sorted out with a Bike pick up, thanks to Vince having the number to motomotion,quick call and they were on the way asap.
Payees to keep phone numbers up to date with those guys, i had 5 bike rescue numbers all bar one was unable to contact or not in business.

Me and Brian were only about 15 minutes behind you we continued down mount Keira , you could have left that last plastic road barrier open for us, had to get all muddy  [roll]

The traffic did bank up at Yatala, that was not from the convoy as they went the coast road round the bay,just sunday traffic .

A little bit of lane splitting and we were at the Shell servo in no time.
Continued to Albion park to Mac pass Robbo pie . Mac pass was perfect absolute no water or Green stuff, no  [leo] and little traffic,
And no Ozomos at Robbo pie shop   ??? :-\ :-[\

Quick pie,(highly recomend the Pasti's and apple turn overs with cream) [drool] and coffee back down Mac pass , to the Gong , Bald hill, back through the National park,
 
Lost Teff some were, Oh well  [Dolph]
 Made it home 4 pm, almost made it on a tank of fuel. one stop . :P

Oh and the rain stayed away was a gloriouse day  [Dolph]

Yeah sorry as I said I was happy to get into a little bit of traffic for the reward of Mac Pass.
I guess when you take a quick glance and see lines of traffic and you know there are 8-10 bikes together lane splitting isnt that easy.

Anyways happy it was mostly good for everyone.
I do like that little run through Appin and through Broughton Pass, I agree Rendang it would have been a first for many people.
Tell me though what direction were you talking about at the bottom of Broughton Pass?

Bikes are easier to fix than people.

   Its a ride which Mick showed me which brings you out at the top of Mac Pass and mostly avoids the Hume Hwy. From Picton rd you get on the Hume for a few k's then just past Pheasants Nest servo, exit at Avon Dam rd - Remembrance Driveway - Silica rd - thru Yanderra,Yerrinbool - Old Hume Hwy - Old South rd - past Mittagong Airport - left onto Range rd - left onto Tourist rd, arrive at Illawarra Hwy between Mac Pass and Pie Shop. Rough in parts but very picturesque, thanks Mick.

Thanx for organizing the ride Matty. Was good fun to get out amoungst a few monsters again. Hopefully the riders behind me have thier hearing back by now! :D

Ah yes, I think many of us have been that way.
I use those roads to come home from Mac Pass and then usually duck down Broughton Pass back to the south.

I guess we could have gone that way and just run down the pass and come back up again.

Last ride on my SV, thanks to all who have put up with my rice rocket ways, coming out of the dark into the light on Saturday.
So glad to come a round the corner and find Dedy standing uninjured. [thumbsup]
