Title: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: Pssst on November 02, 2012, 12:08:38 AM Today (Fri 2nd Nov 12) two friends and I went for a ride through the Royal National Park to Bald Hill. On the return trip to Sydney, past the Bundeena turn off, over the bridge at Flat Rock on the first left hand corner that begins the turns up the hill someone had spilt diesel on the road. Unfortunately one bike went down, no serious injuries but the bike is going to cost a bomb.
People please be warned this looked very much like a malicious dumping and apparently just a couple of weeks ago deisel had been spilled in a corner further south in the park. Please pass this information on to whomever you can and if anyone can post this info on local bike forums please do so. Title: Re: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: FIFO on November 02, 2012, 12:27:39 AM I did see that a few weeks ago and posted it in the say anything thread. ;) Looks like someone has a problem with bikes in the park? :-\ http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/police-fear-oil-spill-was-deliberate-after-three-cars-run-off-road-in-park-20121021-27zky.html#ixzz2A148hMhC (http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/police-fear-oil-spill-was-deliberate-after-three-cars-run-off-road-in-park-20121021-27zky.html#ixzz2A148hMhC) Title: Re: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: Pssst on November 02, 2012, 01:05:38 AM You can say that again. The spillage looked decidedly intentional, like a bottle poured out the drivers side.
Title: Re: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: dragonworld. on November 02, 2012, 03:44:03 PM And I'm sure the authorities know about it too!?
Might be worth trying to find out if they were notified (Cops/Council) And, if they were, why werent signs put out warning of the road condition?? If this turned out to be the case a trip to a solicitor for advice might be in order! [evil] A number of years ago in the Melbourne CBD I hit a massive pothole (Grand Canyon) and bent both rims on my FZR1000! Found out after much handballing by Council and Vic Roads who was responsible for that road and found that they HAD been aware of said divot fpr approx 3 months and had done nothing about it (Repair/warning signs). I sent a quote for the damage and got the wheels fixed!! Worth a try! [thumbsup] Title: Re: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: Pssst on November 02, 2012, 07:01:37 PM Thanks for that advice and yes police were notified. Coincidentally the ambos where headded south and just happened to be right at the corner as the accident occurred. (Ambos didn't seemed concerned with the riders condition at all the were just pissed at the RFS) They called the police and RFS who dealt with the spillage. Actually the amobo guy had attended the previous spillage event where three cars had careened off the road into trees.
The cops were going to make an incident report but just seemed pissed off in general. In fact the female (with one stripe) was particularly unpleasant, initially she was considering giving my friend a ticket! can you believe that. Furthermore apparently she was wanting to give the ambo guy one too because as they arrived on the scene she saw him taking a leak. She was not pleasant. What is this world comming to. Title: Re: WARNING SYDNEY RIDERS RNP Post by: rendang on November 10, 2012, 02:42:49 AM I went to Bald Hill and back today (Sat arvo) and it was ok. Was passed by 2 Hwy Patrol at different places but seems they couldn't be bothered to turn around for the 10 or 15 kph I was over. That oil over the road thing on two separate weeks is playing on my mind. |
