I was wondering if it's possible to swap a brand new digital panel from a 696 or whatever to my S2R. My tachometer is broken and my mechanic told me the thing is "non-serviceable"... I saw a tutorial on how to open it up so I may try and fix it.
But i thought it would be really cool
Thanks,
Hans

Different ecu, different harness plugs, wiring changes...
No easy way as far as I know.
i'm sure the 696 dash gets a lot of its info via can bus.
hmm thanks guys. I'm trying to think of what to do with my tachometer. It's not a terrible issue but it's definitely an eye sore... Perhaps it's a sensor issue?
Is there an engine speed sensor anywhere on the bike? ???
Hans
The signal for the tack comes from the ECU. The ECU is getting proper info because the bike runs. Check your connections at from the ECU to the tach, if you have the owner's manual there is a wiring diagram in the back. If not, go here http://www.ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do (http://www.ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do) and download one for your bike.

hans
okay i read the diagram and it says
BODY 9 (TACHOUT) and it's a Green wire. So. Where is Body 9 located?
Hans
Of the 2 large connectors going into the ECU, one is body the other is engine. BODY 9 is pin 9 on the body connector.

Thanks Duckstew, really appreciate your help. I'm going to try and see if it's just a loose connection. Otherwise I would have to buy a brand new instrument panel which costs 500 bucks.

The wiring harness shouldn't be trusted entirely... I've seen more than a couple in warranty parts bins.
Out of curiosity:
If i purchased the Nemesis ECU then I can basically install the 696 dash right? Of course, this would be like a 2 thousand dollar mod...
