Title: Starting point for spring weight on my SBK mod?
Post by: freeclimbmtb on December 19, 2012, 07:07:37 AM
Before I dive headlong into my SBK fork install, I was hoping to get a starting point for what spring weight I need.  The stock 796 springs seem too light for me, but that makes little to no sense as I am a very light weight rider.  (135 in street clothes)  The forks I am upgrading to are Ohlins off an 1198R.  A suspension shop in Boston told me via email to get the same weight as the 796 has, because the SBK geometry is different, so the game changes.  I suppose the real answer is to finish the mod, and bring it into the shop to get it dialed in...I was just hoping to get the springs done while the forks are on my bench.
