So yesterday I made the switch to a manual petcock. After the install and tank lowered did I realize I need to turn it off if not riding. It was open for about a minute tops, and I did not start it after the install. Did I put fuel in one of my cylinders?
Take a sniff in the oil fill for gas fumes?
It will only flood a cylinder if you have a faulty float needle.
If you're worried pull the plugs and check to see if any fuel comes out when you crank it over.
You could always pull the fill plug and sniff for gas, but used oil always has that combustion smell.
Ok, then I'm good. I just rebuilt my carbs.

If you ever transport in a truck/trailer be sure to turn it off.
The bouncing can let fuel pass.
Noted.
Though it is good practice to turn the petcock off when stopped i never turn it off. Flooding issues? None. Definitely turn it off if transporting.
I turn it off overnight.
I learned.. One morning the oil level sight glass was completely full.
That cost me a full oil change, flush and filter.
Cranking the motor with the plug out, fuel hit the wall!
I suspect FCRs are more prone to this, but I'm not certain.
I stopped using a certain "waxy" brand of premium fuel and always shut the tap overnight. I reckon I could leave it on overnight now and it would be ok, but I'm in the habit now.
I will be shutting mine off after each run. I had to do that with the bobber i built so I'm used to it.
