Title: which sensors to drop? M 620ie 2002
Post by: cmejia1978 on December 27, 2012, 01:10:45 PM
hi! well after my pre-mod on relocating my gauges I decided to do a complete electrical tear down since I had to many issues with the harness (front and back) so now that I have everything apart I was thinking why keep the speed and oil sensors if I don't have any gauges, no aftermarket gauges at all too, (the only reason I am keeping the gauges under my hood if for the immobilizer ) so any other sensors that you could think of? Instead of the oil sensor, which screw could I use? Do I need silicone there too? thank you... [thumbsup]

if you take out sensors, you might get error codes, if you get error codes you will not know since you have no gauges to show you the 'check engine' light . . . you need all sensors in order for the EFI to properly work

the speed sensor might cause issues as it runs into the ecu and the ecu will know that it's running, in gear, with the clutch out, but it's not moving as far as it knows.  so it will show a fault.  won't actually impact performance tho i don't think.

oil temp sensor on the screen cap is just for the dash, ecu sensor is on the horiz inlet rocker cover.

get the ecu reflashed with the immo disabled and leave the dash completely off.
