Post by: Sabre Brian on December 29, 2012, 07:39:46 PM
Do they ever happen?
When?
Where do I meet you?

OK Lions Rd it is.

See you there.

I go back to work on Wednesday at 6am.  LOL

I live 5 minutes from Yamanto Maccas though.

So there are not really any organised rides in here for Brisbane people then?

That depends on what you call "organised"! If you mean post and hope for the best yes. Have someone manage a ride then no.

How about a quick ride up Glorious tomorrow morning? Meet at Fernvale servo 0800?

Mate I would love to but I have made other plans now.  If you give me a bit more notice next time I would love to mate.

maybe you could organise one that suits your timeframe/ commitments then brian?

Title: Re: Brisbane Rides
Post by: Sabre Brian on December 31, 2012, 10:09:58 PM
Well would anyone be keen for this weekend to do the Glorious run?

Start at Goodna BP around 7-8 - Whatever suits.  Gives any other Brissie people time to get there.

1st stop Fernvale servo - Just because from the sound of it Monsterdorf is out that way.

2nd stop at the cafe on top of Glorious (It's been a while so I am assuming it is still there)

3rd stop Samford Valley servo, then all just disperse from there back to wherever the hell we all came from.

Sound like a plan??

Who's keen??

This is just a first suggestion guys.  If it doesn't work for ya, I am super flexible.

P.S.  My bike gets picked up by the shop tomorrow to go back and get a few warranty jobs done.  All this would of course be hinging on me getting it back by the weekend, but it is fork seals, rear foot pegs and an adjustment on the rear brakes so surely that shouldn't take the rest of the week.

Will check with the Boss.

We were thinking of heading out to Noosa for a weekend on the boat, but who knows?

Will advise.

Hi guys,

Finally moved into the new (to us) house and looking forward to a ride.  We're out past Samford just off the Mt Glorious road so Mt Glorious on the weekend would be great if you don't mind an extra.
Might even meet you up there if that suits.

Cheers,
Rob

It's not a matter of if Rob, it is when, and as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier.

Thanks for the run today but I don't think  we stuck to the script too well.

I almost had tears and did someone end up with a ticket?

We need to rethink our timing for summer as I'm well and truly cooked!

Let's make the next one shorter and earlier or later to avoid the midday heat.

Cheers

I don't care if it is Glorious guys.  It was just a suggestion, and I am open to other suggestions.

Oh and it looks like this weekend is going to be out for me, due to the absolute stupidity of the dicks
I bought the bike off.  I called last Thursday to book in to have my fork seals done under warranty.  They
came and picked up the bike today.  I called them to ask when I was getting it back and was told it wouldn't
be until next week because they have to wait for the fork seals to come in.

1.  Why didn't they order them last Thursday.
2.  Why did they come and get the bike today if they don't have parts to work on it.

Imbociles.  Anyway, I am out until the following weekend, so if we aren't going to do Glorious, then where?

Cruise down to Nimbin and see if we can get some cheap cannibis?  LOL

Open to suggestions boys.

See you mis-understood the technique!

Two bike go straight on and two bikes take the next available turn; the boys in blue now need to decide which way to go.

Works out lucky though given your Diavels are pretty much "stock" but I have the fender eliminator, integrated tail light, open cans etc.

As for a ride next weekend perhaps, as we discussed, a run out to Maleny?

I looked up the Diavel on wikipedia and lists it as a cruiser! I guess like a Harley or Victory? Here is what it says:

The Ducati Diavel is the second cruiser motorcycle from Ducati,[1] after the Indiana of 1986–1990. The 2011 model year Diavel debuted in November 2010 at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.[1] The engine is a retuned version of the 1,198.4 cc (73.13 cu in) Testastretta from the 1198 superbike,[2] now called the Testastretta 11° for its 11° valve overlap (reduced from 41°).
Styling for the Diavel was developed in-house, although the project began under the leadership of Ducati's previous design chief, Pierre Terblanche, who commissioned Glynn Kerr, freelance designer and design columnist for Motorcycle Consumer News, to produce the initial concept sketches.[3] In the US, most Diavel buyers appear to be existing riders age 50 and over, with more women than usual attracted to the bike, and some Harley-Davidson owners, especially V-Rod riders, trading for the new Ducati power cruiser.[4]

Post by: loony888 on January 02, 2013, 01:55:32 AM
so you nearly threw your monster away trying to overtake then out brake a "cruiser" then mick?

If you can sincerely have a ride like we had today with anyone on any harley / victory etc. then good luck to you!

wikipedia? pah! it's an encyclopedia of opinions (obviously!) not necessarily facts.

i am not over 50, i am not a woman and we are not in the US. Thankfully i am not a stereotypical diavel rider, and if it were only a mere dawdle then any bike (even a (yuk!) harley) would do....

Unfortunately not mate, unless you count the 2 hours I spent riding a mower at my rental property out at Boonah.

I am still keen for next weekend if anyone else wants to come.

I had a quick rip early yesterday morning around the Maleny/Kenilworth loop.

Mr Law was sighted in Kenilworth and Montville

I did go for a cane down the Gold Coast on Friday afternoon to see a mate and met a bloke down there with an 01 798.

Still keen for this weekend though if others are.

Which day are you looking at?

I get back home late Friday and would be keen on a ride. Perhaps Queen Mary Falls for a coffee? Other than the main Ipswich to Boonah Rd its pretty quite out that way!

Title: Re: Brisbane Rides
Post by: Sabre Brian on January 16, 2013, 01:06:48 AM
Dorf I am from Boonah originally mate so I know my way around there very well. There was a couple of monsters in Boonah on the weekend actually.  I was up there on the ride on mower tidying up the rental property before the new tenants go in.

I would certainly be keen for that.  0410338180.  Shoot me a text and we will sort it out.

Anyone else wanting a ride, send me a text as well.  Would be good to have a few blokes on hand that I can contact for a ride.  Getting tired of farting around slow with my mates who ride Massey Fergu.........  sorry Harley Davidsons.

Yes I have been known to ride in the rain but usually only after getting caught out.

Lets play it by ear, dry start and we're away  ;D

Well not looking too good at this point. Even if it's dry tomorrow plenty of creeks will be up cutting access to most places! I guess a "rain check" would seem appropriate?
