Title: Brake/Clutch banjo bolt interference Post by: joshuajcrouch on December 30, 2012, 07:55:11 PM Ok everyone I need some help with my brake/clutch banjo bolts. I have a 2001 M600 and just installed some clip-ons and decided to lower my clocks at the same time. I cannot get my brake/clutch banjo bolts back on without putting a ton of stress on the lines.
For those with clip-ons and clocks mounted below the triple tree, what did you do about your brake/clutch banjo bolts? What would be ideal is to get some banjo bolts without the bend. I did a search on here but didn't see much advice. Here are the recommendations I could think of: 1) Buy a straight banjo bolt and see if someone local could put the new banjo bolts on the existing brake lines. I haven't done the research yet to see if someone can do this. 2) Order new lines from Spiegler but I heard they are expensive. 3) I read on here that you can use the lines from the SS? Does anyone have any more info on this? 4) Any other options? Thank you in advance for any input. Trying to fabricate a mount for my KTM Superduke headlight. The bracket is only going to accentuate the problem. I like the thought, but this would put my brake/clutch lines right across the top of my gauges. It would probably block my view of the gauges. I'm not sure there are any SS or other models with that set up... With only one line, no split joint, and only two banjos - I doubt that even a custom line will run you over $100 all included. That is right... I only have a single front brake. I would also need a new clutch line as well though. Interesting idea. I wonder if the banjo bolts are the same size on both sides. I'll take a look tonight when I get home. Can you explain to me how these would improve my problem? I am not sure how it would help me since my coffin reservoirs have no trouble clearing the clip-on mounts. The items on the ends of the lines are banjo fittings. Banjo bolts are the bolts used to attach them. You can indeed swap the clutch line end-for-end. I seem to remember that the other side of my clutch line has a straight fitting so that should work. I cannot remember what the other fitting looks like on my front brake. I probably confused things even more by saying that I was having banjo bolt interference when my real problem is with the banjo fitting. Yeah the angle of my banjo fitting is pushing the lines right into my gauges! The clutch side has a straight banjo fitting on the other side so I should be able to swap them around. I don't see the harm in having a banjo fitting with a 35' bend where it attaches to the motor.
I also found this company http://www.pacrubber.com/ (http://www.pacrubber.com/) online and gave them a phone call. I asked them if they can put new banjo fittings on SS lines and they made it sound like they can help me. I may take my brake line in since it doesn't have a straight fitting on the other side. Next question is where can I buy a straight fitting that will fit my coffin reservoir? What size should I look for? |
