Title: Wootton Way
Post by: rendang on January 07, 2013, 04:36:20 AM

J5 has mentioned this bypassed section of the Pacific Hwy before, but I only got the chance to ride it last weekend. Its 20 klms of wonderfully deserted curves thru the Buladelah State Forest, starting just past Buladelah (heading north).

Highly recommend this alternative to the expressway. I was actually heading home from Forster, rode down The Lakes Way -

                                                 - to just north of Bulahdelah, went up and down Wootton Way, thru Bulahdelah and up Booral Road to Buckets Way, Dungog, Singleton and Putty Road, thereby almost completely avoiding the expressway.

I used to go that way going on family holidays to Forster.
Not that I used to drive but I also never slept in the car and looked forward to Dad driving through those curves.

Just be mindful of leaf litter ... especially wet leaves.

Certain sections act as a leaf catcher ... and a lack of traffic means accumulation is inevitable. With a bit of rain it can be pretty dangerous.

I see also that your son-in-law (forgotten his name) has his bike back.
I'm gathering fixed or did it get replaced?

Yes, there is quite a bit of debris on some corners and the road surface is roughing up in some places, but its a lovely ride thru the forest.

Dedy got his bike replaced with a new 696, he was with QBE and very happy with the service. Much less happy with Frasers, who refused to allow him to remove his Termi's himself and tried to extort $450 to do it. After much arguing, threats to take his bike out and the intervention of the QBE assessor they reduced that to $240. After more arguments, threats to take his bike back and again getting the assessor to intervene they did it for $110.
They really are a disgracefull outfit.

Got chatting with a couple of local Forster 696 owners.

They are just disgusting aren't they!

Do they really think their reputation doesn't get around the community.
The problem is people who don't really know any better just let them get away with it.
Same as Mark and Julie and their "safety inspection" for Tourismo, advertised at one price and tried to charge a whole lot more.

Frasers a family asshole business.  [thumbsup]
