Title: Re: Petition to stop motorcycle only checkpoints Post by: Nero-92 on January 10, 2013, 05:02:33 PM Why would you worry about being stopped if you're legally aloud to to ride the bike with pillion?
Title: Re: Petition to stop motorcycle only checkpoints Post by: PhilB on January 10, 2013, 05:19:27 PM It was fixed in VA last year, but the NHTSA is still pushing it to states, and offering money to those who do it. This petition is to stop that BS. And you worry because (a) it's your right not to be stopped and inspected without specific cause, (b) it's a PITA that there is no reason to have to submit to, (c) there are so many laws that you might wind up with some lame tickets for no good reason even if you think you're within the laws, and (d) our tax money and police resources ought to be spent on catching actual criminals who harm people, not on harassing the ordinary person going about his life.

Besides the fact that motorcycle riders are being singled out maybe some folk don't want to be delayed or have their bike impounded because a piece of paper is out of order the DOT sticker is worn off your legal helmet. Oh give me a break. This is a thread already about a political petition. I did not start this thread. I did not argue this thread. Curmudgeon thought the issue was already handled, and Nero-92 wanted to know why anyone cares about motorcycle checkpoints. I offered information on the former, and explanation of the latter. If you're going to penalize people for posting in a political thread, then you shouldn't allow the thread in the first place. That's once Phil...
