I run the blinkers with a solid state, load dependant relay similar to the motogadget m flash unit. I use that to send constant battery voltage to the neutral pole on the blinker switch and then wire the blinkers themselves directly to ground. When the blinker switch is engaged, the load from the blinker causes the relay to engage.

Post by: brad black on January 11, 2013, 03:40:10 AM What kind of wiring harness are you using to adapt to the aftermarket dash? I'm assuming you're going for a non cut-and-splice approach? this is a pre emptive question due to a customer with a dead dash and thoughts of replacing it with non genuine. so the relay supplies the voltage to the switch and also gives the on/off flash rate. you connect switch out l/r to indicator power wires l/r and earth the other indicator wire. i'm being the voice of reality before he brings in some aftermarket dash and asks me to fit it and 5 or more hours later i give him a bill and he falls over sort of thing. It took me maybe an hour to complete the wiring changes, and the wire diagram I was working with was fairly rudimentary. Getting rid of the factory gauges was the best change I made to the bike. Knowing that my gauge and associated immobilizer won't leave me for dead every time it rains is worth it's weight in gold.

Title: Re: Aftermarket dash on2002 - 2008 Monster: How to run indicators? Post by: accrocker on January 20, 2013, 03:58:03 PM I'm using one of the 4000 series gauges. Analog tach with digital speed and other vital stats. I had a thread about it several years ago on here. If you search ace well it should pop up with a few of my photos. The gauge was a pre production model I got from a friend of mine who was a development engineer at electrosport so it might be a bit different than what they are presently offering.
